Abu Hatim ibn Hibban al-Busti: He memorized most of his hadiths.
Abu Dawud al-Sijistani: I wrote about him in Basra, and he is a truthful, trustworthy and reliable man.
Abu Muhammad al-Abnussi: Whoever heard from him in Basra before he went to Baghdad, then it is after mixing or doubtful.
Al-Khatib al-Baghdadi: He described him as having memorization and precision, and once said: He was known for righteousness and goodness.
Al-Daraqutni: Saduq (truthful) with many errors in the chains of narration, and he used to narrate from his memory, so his errors increased.
Al-Dhahabi: Saduq (truthful) but makes mistakes.
Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Khuzaymah: He narrated to us in Basra before he mixed and went out to Baghdad.
Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabari: I have not seen anyone who memorizes better than Abu Qilaba.
Muslimah ibn al-Qasim al-Andalusi: Precise, trustworthy, he memorizes the hadith of Shuba as he memorizes the Surah.
