Abu Ahmad ibn Adi al-Jurjani: Some of his narrations are not agreed upon by the trustworthy narrators, and he is among those whose hadiths are written down.
Abu Bakr al-Bazzar: People considered his hadith acceptable, but he was not a hafiz (one who has memorized a large number of hadiths).
Abu Hatim al-Razi: His place is that of trustworthiness, but he was not that strong (in memorization).
Abu Hatim ibn Hibban al-Busti: A trustworthy sheikh, except that he used to make many mistakes unintentionally, to the point that he would narrate mursal hadiths (hadiths with a missing link in the chain of narration) without realizing it. Most of his narrations were from his memory, so errors occurred in his hadith due to his poor memory. What I am inclined towards regarding him is to leave out the narrations he uniquely narrated in which he contradicted the trustworthy narrators, and to rely on what he narrated in agreement with the trustworthy narrators, and to accept the narrations he uniquely narrated.
Abu Dawud al-Sijistani: Abu Hilal is trustworthy, he did not have a book.
Abu Zur'a al-Razi: Lenient and not strong (in memorization).
Abu Nu'aym al-Asfahani: Basran, trustworthy.
Ahmad ibn Hanbal: His hadith is acceptable, except that he contradicts Qatadah, and his narration of hadith from Qatadah is inconsistent.
Ahmad ibn Shu'ayb al-Nasa'i: Not strong (in memorization).
Ibn Hajar al-'Asqalani: Trustworthy, somewhat lenient.
Al-Daraqutni: Weak.
Zakariya ibn Yahya al-Saji: He narrated a munkar (rejected) hadith.
Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi: He used to narrate from him.
Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Bukhari: He included him in the Book of the Weak Narrators.
Muhammad ibn Sa'd, the scribe of al-Waqidi: There is weakness in him.
Authors of Tahdhib al-Tahdhib: Weak, but his narrations are considered.
Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan: He considered him weak, and once said: He was not considered reliable.
Yahya ibn Ma'in: He was asked: Is Hammad ibn Salamah more beloved to you in the hadith of Qatadah or Abu Hilal? He said: Hammad is more beloved to me, and Abu Hilal is trustworthy. In the narration of Ibn Abi Khaythamah: He is not the author of a book, there is no harm in him. And once: He is not the author of a book, and he is weak in hadith. In the narration of al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan, he was asked: How is his narration from Qatadah? He said: There is weakness in it, Suwaylih.
Yazid ibn Zura'a al-'Ayshi: I intentionally avoided him. And once: He is nothing.
