Abu Ahmad ibn 'Adi al-Jurjani: He mentioned some hadiths for him and said: He narrates from Dawud things that I did not mention, for which he is not followed.
Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi: His hadith is acceptable.
Abu Ja'far al-'Uqayli: He narrates munkar (rejected) hadiths from Dawud, and many of his hadiths are not followed.
Abu Hatim al-Razi: His hadith is acceptable.
Abu Hatim ibn Hibban al-Busti: He mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators.
Abu Hafs 'Umar ibn Shahin: He is closer to being trustworthy, according to Yahya ibn Ma'in, in knowledge.
Abu Zur'ah al-Razi: He is fine. He narrates hasan (good) hadiths from Dawud ibn Abi Hind.
Ahmad ibn Hanbal: A weak Sheikh in hadith. He narrates munkar hadiths from Dawud ibn Abi Hind. And once: They narrate munkar hadiths from him, and I think they were lenient in narrating from him.
Ahmad ibn Shu'ayb al-Nasa'i: He is not strong.
Ibn Hajar al-'Asqalani: Saduq (truthful) with some errors.
Al-Mizzi: A weak Sheikh in hadith. He narrates munkar hadiths from Dawud ibn Abi Hind.
Zakaria ibn Yahya al-Saji: He narrated munkar hadiths from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, and he was a Qadari.
Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi: He abandoned his hadith.
Ubayd Allah ibn 'Umar al-Qawariri: He was knowledgeable in the hadith of Dawud ibn Abi Hind, and it was said: There is something in his memorization.
Muhammad ibn Sa'd, the scribe of al-Waqidi: He considered him trustworthy.
Authors of Tahrir Taqrib al-Tahdhib: Saduq (truthful) with good hadith. He was only lowered to this rank because of some errors.
Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan: He was not pleased with him.
Yahya ibn Ma'in: Trustworthy.
