Abu Ahmad al-Hakim: If he narrates from his memory, he makes mistakes, and if he narrates from a book, there is no problem with him.
Abu Ahmad ibn Adi al-Jurjani: I do not see in his narration, if a trustworthy narrator narrates from him or he narrates from a trustworthy narrator, a Munkar Hadith. So I mention him, and he is, in my opinion, Saduq (truthful), there is no problem with him.
Abu Bishr al-Dulabi: He is not that strong.
Abu Bakr al-Isma'ili: He is not relied upon.
Abu Hatim al-Razi: His place is that of truthfulness, his Hadiths are written down, but he is not relied upon. He is more beloved to me than Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi al-Muwal.
Abu Hatim ibn Hibban al-Busti: He mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators and said: 'He narrates from Hamid al-Tawil. Ibn al-Mubarak and the people of Egypt narrated from him.'
Abu Dawud al-Sijistani: Salih (acceptable)
Abu Sa'id ibn Yunus al-Masri: One of the seekers of knowledge, he narrated from the people of Mecca, Medina, Syria, Egypt, and Iraq. The strangers narrated from him Hadiths that are not found among the people of Egypt from him.
Abu Muhammad ibn Hazm al-Zahiri: Da'if (weak)
Ahmad ibn Hanbal: He is below Haywah and Sa'id ibn Abi Ayyub in Hadith. And once: 'He had a bad memory.' And once: 'He used to narrate from his memory and he was fine.'
Ahmad ibn Shu'ayb al-Nasa'i: He is not that strong.
Ahmad ibn Salih al-Masri: He may have made mistakes in his memorization. And once: 'He has some things in which he contradicts.'
Ibrahim ibn Ishaq al-Harbi: Thiqah (trustworthy)
Ibn Hajar al-'Asqalani: Saduq (truthful), he may have made mistakes.
al-Daraqutni: Thiqah (trustworthy). And once: 'There is some confusion in some of his Hadiths.'
al-Dhahabi: One of the scholars, Salih (acceptable) in Hadith. And once: 'He had much knowledge, a Faqih (jurist) of the soul.' And once: 'He has some strange and Munkar (rejected) Hadiths, which the people of the Sahihs avoid, and they criticize his narration, and he is Hasan (good) in Hadith.' And once: 'He narrates strange Hadiths like other Imams.'
Zakariya ibn Yahya al-Saji: Saduq (truthful), reliable.
Uthman ibn al-Hakam al-Jadhmi: There was no one like him established in Egypt.
Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Bukhari: Saduq (truthful). And in another narration: 'Thiqah (trustworthy).'
Muhammad ibn Sa'd, the scribe of al-Waqidi: Munkar al-Hadith (his Hadiths are rejected)
Authors of Tahrir Taqrib al-Tahdhib: Saduq (truthful), the two Sheikhs relied upon him in their Sahihs.
Yahya ibn Ma'in: Salih (acceptable). And once: 'Thiqah (trustworthy).'
Ya'qub ibn Sufyan al-Faswi: Thiqah (trustworthy), Hafiz (one who has memorized the Quran)
