al-Dhahabi: I do not see him except as between weak and trustworthy, and I wonder how al-Nasa'i included him in his book. He also said: I do not know anyone among the earlier scholars who weakened him before Abu Hatim al-Busti, and he spoke well of him

Ya'qub ibn Sufyan al-Faswi: Trustworthy, he travelled in pursuit of knowledge and was one of its narrators and people
