It was narrated that Hittan bin 'Abdullah said : "Abu Musa (رضي الله تعالى عنه) led us in prayer and when he was sitting, a man from among the people entered and said : 'Prayer is based on righteousness and is always mentioned alongside Zakah (in the Qur'an).' When Abu Musa (رضي الله تعالى عنه) had said the Salam, he turned to the people and said : 'Which of you spoke these words?' The people kept quiet. Then he said : 'O Hittan, perhaps you said it?' He said : 'No, but I was afraid that you would rebuke me for it.' He said : 'The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) taught us our prayer and Sunnah prayers, and he said : The Imam is appointed to be followed, so when he says the Takbir, say the Takbir; when he says - َِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَالَ الضَّال ِينغَيْر[Not the way of those who earned Your Anger, nor of those who went astray] say Amin, and Allah will respond to you; when he rises up from bowing and says - َُّ ُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهسَمِعَ َّللا[Allah hears those who praise Him] say -
َُ بَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدر[Our Lord, to You be praise], and Allah will hear you; when he prostrates, prostrate, and when he sits up, sit up. The Imam should prostrate before you do and sit up before you do.' The Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آلهوسلم) said : 'This makes up for that.'"

حطان بن عبداللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ابوموسیٰ اشعری رضی اللہ عنہ نے ہمیں نماز پڑھائی تو جب وہ قعدہ میں گئے تو قوم کا ایک آدمی اندر آیا اور کہنے لگا کہ نماز نیکی اور زکاۃ کے ساتھ ملا دی گئی ہے ۱؎، تو جب ابوموسیٰ اشعری رضی اللہ عنہ سلام پھیر کر لوگوں کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے تو انہوں نے پوچھا: تم میں سے کس نے یہ بات کہی ہے؟ تو سبھی لوگ خاموش رہے کسی نے کوئی جواب نہیں دیا، تو انہوں نے کہا: اے حطان! شاید تم نے ہی یہ بات کہی ہے! تو انہوں نے کہا: نہیں میں نے نہیں کہی ہے، اور مجھے ڈر ہے کہ کہیں آپ مجھ ہی کو اس پر سرزنش نہ کرنے لگ جائیں، تو انہوں نے کہا: رسول اللہ ﷺ ہمیں ہماری نماز اور ہمارے طریقے سکھاتے تھے، تو آپ فرماتے: امام اس لیے ہے کہ اس کی اقتداء کی جائے، تو جب وہ اللہ اکبر کہے تو تم بھی اللہ اکبر کہو، اور جب وہ «غير المغضوب عليهم ولا الضالين»کہے تو تم لوگ آمین کہو، تو اللہ تعالیٰ تمہاری ( دعا ) قبول فرمائے گا، اور جب وہ رکوع کرے تو تم بھی رکوع کرو، اور جب وہ ( رکوع ) سے سر اٹھائے اور «سمع اللہ لمن حمده» کہے تو تم «ربنا لك الحمد» کہو، تو اللہ تعالیٰ تمہاری سنے گا، اور جب وہ سجدہ کرے تو تم بھی سجدہ کرو، اور جب وہ سجدہ سے سر اٹھائے تو تم بھی سر اٹھاؤ، کیونکہ امام تم سے پہلے سجدہ کرتا ہے، اور تم سے پہلے سر بھی اٹھاتا ہے ، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ادھر کی کسر ادھر پوری ہو جائے گی ۔
Hataan bin Abdullah kehte hain ke Abu Musa Ash'ari (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne humen namaz padhai to jab woh qu'ada mein gaye to qoum ka aik aadmi andar aaya aur kahne laga ke namaz neiki aur zakat ke sath mila di gai hai 1, to jab Abu Musa Ash'ari (رضي الله تعالى عنه) salam phir kar logon ki taraf mutawajjah hue to unhon ne poocha: tum mein se kis ne yeh baat kahi hai? to sabhi log khamosh rahe kisi ne koi jawab nahi diya, to unhon ne kaha: Aie Hataan! shayad tum ne hi yeh baat kahi hai! to unhon ne kaha: nahin main ne nahi kahi hai, aur mujhe dar hai ke kahin aap mujh hi ko is par sarzansh na karne lag jain, to unhon ne kaha: Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) humen humari namaz aur humara tariqa sikhate the, to aap farmate: Imam is liye hai ke is ki iqtada ki jaaye, to jab woh Allahu Akbar kahe to tum bhi Allahu Akbar kaho, aur jab woh «Ghair al-Maghdoob 'alaihim wa la al-Dallin» kahe to tum log Ameen kaho, to Allah Ta'ala tumhari (dua) qabool farmayega, aur jab woh rukoo kare to tum bhi rukoo karo, aur jab woh (rukoo) se sar uthaye aur «Sama'a Allahu liman hamida» kahe to tum «Rabban laka al-Hamd» kaho, to Allah Ta'ala tumhari sunega, aur jab woh sujood kare to tum bhi sujood karo, aur jab woh sujood se sar uthaye to tum bhi sar uthao, kyonke imam tum se pehle sujood karta hai, aur tum se pehle sar bhi uthata hai, Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: idhar ki kassar idhar poori ho jayegi.
