It was narrated that Abu Sa'eed (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said :"The Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said : 'If there are three people, let one of them lead the others in prayer, and the one who has the most right to lead the prayer is the one who recites (knows) more (of the Qur'an)."

ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: جب تین آدمی ہوں تو ان میں سے ایک ان کی امامت کرے، اور امامت کا زیادہ حقدار ان میں وہ ہے جسے قرآن زیادہ یاد ہو ۔
Abu Saeed Khudri (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Jab teen aadmi hon to un mein se ek un ki imamat kare, aur imamat ka ziyada haqdar un mein woh hai jise Quran ziyada yaad ho.
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِذَا كَانُوا ثَلاَثَةً فَلْيَؤُمَّهُمْ أَحَدُهُمْ وَأَحَقُّهُمْ بِالإِمَامَةِ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ " .
