Salim narrated from his father that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to raise his hands until they were in level with his shoulders when he started to pray, and when he raised his head from bowing he did likewise, and when he said - ََّ ُ لِمَنْ حَمِدسَمِعَ َّللا ُه [ Allah hears the one who praises Him] he also said - َُ بَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدر [ Our Lord, to You be praise] and he did not raise his hands between the two prostrations.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہم سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ جب نماز شروع کرتے تو اپنے ہاتھ اپنے کندھوں کے بالمقابل اٹھاتے، اور جب رکوع سے سر اٹھاتے تو بھی اسی طرح کرتے، اور جب «سمع اللہ لمن حمده» کہتے تو «ربنا لك الحمد» کہتے، اور دونوں سجدوں کے درمیان اپنے ہاتھ نہیں اٹھاتے تھے۔

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ إِذَا دَخَلَ فِي الصَّلاَةِ حَذْوَ مَنْكِبَيْهِ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَإِذَا قَالَ " سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ " . قَالَ " رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ " . وَكَانَ لاَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ بَيْنَ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ .
