Abdur-Rahman bin Samurah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said, ‘While I was (practicing) shooting some arrows in Al-Madinah, the sun became eclipsed. I gathered up my arrows and said, ‘I want to see what the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) will say about the eclipse of the sun’. So, I came to him from behind when he was in the masjid, and he (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) started to say the tasbih and takbir and to supplicate until the eclipse was over. Then he (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stood up and prayed two Rak'a with four prostrations.

عبدالرحمٰن بن سمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں مدینہ میں تیر اندازی میں مشغول تھا، اتنے میں سورج کو گرہن لگ گیا، میں نے اپنے تیروں کو سمیٹا اور دل میں ارادہ کیا کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے سورج گرہن کے موقع پر کیا نئی بات کی ہے، اسے چل کر ضرور دیکھوں گا، میں آپ کے پیچھے کی جانب سے آپ کے پاس آیا، آپ مسجد میں تھے، تسبیح و تکبیر اور دعا میں لگے رہے، یہاں تک کہ سورج صاف ہو گیا، پھر آپ کھڑے ہوئے، اور دو رکعت نماز پڑھی، اور چار سجدے کیے ۔
Abdul Rahman bin Samra (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke main Madina mein tir andazi mein mashghul tha, itne mein suraj ko grahan lag gaya, main ne apne tiro ko sameta aur dil mein irada kiya ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne suraj grahan ke mauqe per kya nai baat ki hai, isse chal kar zarur dekhoonga, main aap ke peeche ki janib se aap ke pass aya, aap masjid mein the, tasbih o takbir aur dua mein lage rahe, yahan tak ke suraj saf ho gaya, phir aap khade hue, aur do rakat namaz parhi, aur chaar sajde kiye
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ، - وَهُوَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ - قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ، عَنْ حَيَّانَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ بَيْنَا أَنَا أَتَرَامَى، بِأَسْهُمٍ لِي بِالْمَدِينَةِ إِذِ انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَجَمَعْتُ أَسْهُمِي وَقُلْتُ لأَنْظُرَنَّ مَا أَحْدَثَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي كُسُوفِ الشَّمْسِ فَأَتَيْتُهُ مِمَّا يَلِي ظَهْرَهُ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَجَعَلَ يُسَبِّحُ وَيُكَبِّرُ وَيَدْعُو حَتَّى حُسِرَ عَنْهَا - قَالَ - ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَأَرْبَعَ سَجَدَاتٍ .
