Abu Musa (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that there was an eclipse of the sun, and the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) got up in a rush, fearing that it might be the Hour. He went to the masjid, where he stood and prayed, standing, bowing, and prostrating for the longest time that I ever saw him do in prayer. Then he said, ‘these signs that Allah (جَلَّ ذُو) sends do not occur for the death or birth of anyone, but Allah (جَلَّ ذُو) sends them to strike fear into His slaves. If you see any of these things, then hasten to remember Him, call upon Him supplicate and ask for His forgiveness’.

ابوموسیٰ اشعری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ سورج گرہن لگا تو رسول اللہ ﷺ گھبرا کر کھڑے ہوئے، آپ ڈر رہے تھے کہ کہیں قیامت تو نہیں آ گئی ہے، چنانچہ آپ اٹھے یہاں تک کہ مسجد آئے، پھر نماز پڑھنے کھڑے ہوئے تو آپ نے اتنے لمبے لمبے قیام، رکوع اور سجدے کیے کہ اتنے لمبے میں نے آپ کو کسی نماز میں کرتے نہیں دیکھا، پھر آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: یہ وہ نشانیاں ہیں جنہیں اللہ تعالیٰ بھیجتا ہے، یہ نہ کسی کے مرنے سے ہوتے ہیں نہ کسی کے پیدا ہونے سے، بلکہ اللہ تعالیٰ انہیں اپنے بندوں کو ڈرانے کے لیے بھیجتا ہے، تو جب تم ان میں سے کچھ دیکھو تو اللہ کو یاد کرنے اور اس سے دعا اور استغفار کرنے کے لیے دوڑ پڑو ۔
Abu Musa Ash'ari (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke suraj grahan laga to Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ghabara kar khade hue, aap dar rahe the ke kahan qayamat to nahi a gayi hai, chananche aap uthe yahan tak ke masjid aaye, phir namaz padhne khade hue to aap ne itne lambi lambi qiyam, rukoo aur sajda kiye ke itne lambi mein maine aap ko kisi namaz mein karte nahi dekha, phir aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: yeh woh nishaniyaan hain jinhen Allah Ta'ala bhijta hai, yeh na kisi ke marne se hote hain na kisi ke paida hone se, balke Allah Ta'ala inhen apne bandon ko darane ke liye bhijta hai, to jab tum in mein se kuchh dekho to Allah ko yaad karne aur us se dua aur istigfar karne ke liye dour pado
أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَسْرُوقِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ بُرَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى، قَالَ خَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَزِعًا يَخْشَى أَنْ تَكُونَ السَّاعَةُ فَقَامَ حَتَّى أَتَى الْمَسْجِدَ فَقَامَ يُصَلِّي بِأَطْوَلِ قِيَامٍ وَرُكُوعٍ وَسُجُودٍ مَا رَأَيْتُهُ يَفْعَلُهُ فِي صَلاَتِهِ قَطُّ ثُمَّ قَالَ " إِنَّ هَذِهِ الآيَاتِ الَّتِي يُرْسِلُ اللَّهُ لاَ تَكُونُ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلاَ لِحَيَاتِهِ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يُرْسِلُهَا يُخَوِّفُ بِهَا عِبَادَهُ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ مِنْهَا شَيْئًا فَافْزَعُوا إِلَى ذِكْرِهِ وَدُعَائِهِ وَاسْتِغْفَارِهِ " .
