Abdullah bin Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, when mentioning charity and those who refrain from asking, ‘the upper hand is better than the lower hand; the upper hand is that which gives and the lower hand is that which asks.’

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا ( اس وقت آپ صدقہ و خیرات اور مانگنے سے بچنے کا ذکر کر رہے تھے ) : اوپر والا ہاتھ بہتر ہے نیچے والے ہاتھ سے، اور اوپر والا ہاتھ خرچ کرنے والا ہاتھ ہے، اور نیچے والا ہاتھ مانگنے والا ہاتھ ہے۔
Abdul-Allah bin Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a kehte hain ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya (is waqt aap sadaqah wa khairat aur mangne se bachne ka zikr kar rahe the): Oopar wala hath behtar hai niche wale hath se, aur oopar wala hath kharch karne wala hath hai, aur niche wala hath mangne wala hath hai.
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ وَهُوَ يَذْكُرُ الصَّدَقَةَ وَالتَّعَفُّفَ عَنِ الْمَسْأَلَةِ " الْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا الْمُنْفِقَةُ وَالْيَدُ السُّفْلَى السَّائِلَةُ " .
