Shu'bah narrated from Sayyar and Yahya bin Sa'eed that they heard Ubadah bin Al-Walid ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrating from his father. Sayyar said, from his father, and Yahya said, ‘from his father from his grandfather, who said, 'we pledged to the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) to hear and obey during our hardship and our ease, when we felt energetic and when we felt tired, and when others are preferred over us, that we would not contend with the orders of whomever was entrusted with it, that we would stand firm for the truth wherever it may be, and that we would not fear the blame of any blamer for the sake of Allah.’ Shu'bah said, Sayyar did not mention this statement - 'wherever it may be - while Yahya mentioned it. Shu'bah said, ‘if I have added anything to it, then it is from Sayyar or from Yahya.’

عبادہ بن صامت رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے رسول اللہ ﷺ سے تنگی و خوشحالی اور خوشی و غمی اور دوسروں کو اپنے اوپر ترجیح دئیے جانے کی حالت میں سمع و طاعت ( حکم سننے اور اس پر عمل کرنے ) پر بیعت کی اور اس بات پر بیعت کی کہ ہم حکمرانوں سے حکومت کے سلسلے میں جھگڑا نہیں کریں گے اور یہ کہ ہم حق پر قائم رہیں گے جہاں بھی ہو۔ ہم اللہ کے معاملے میں کسی ملامت کرنے والے کی ملامت سے نہیں ڈریں گے۔ شعبہ کہتے ہیں کہ سیار نے «حیث ما کان» کا لفظ ذکر نہیں کیا اور یحییٰ نے ذکر کیا۔ شعبہ کہتے ہیں: اگر میں اس میں کوئی لفظ زائد کروں تو وہ سیار سے مروی ہو گا یا یحییٰ سے۔
Abadah bin Samit (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke hum ne Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se tangi o khushi aur khushi o ghammi aur dusron ko apne oopar tarjih diye jane ki halat mein samu o taat ( hukm sunne aur us par amal karne) par baiat ki aur is baat par baiat ki ke hum hukmaranon se hukumat ke silsile mein jhagda nahin karenge aur yeh ke hum haq par qaem rahenge jahan bhi ho. Hum Allah ke mamle mein kisi malamaat karne wala ki malamaat se nahin darenge. Shab'ah kehte hain ke Siyar ne «Hayth ma kaan» ka lafz zikr nahin kiya aur Yahya ne zikr kiya. Shab'ah kehte hain: Agar mein is mein koi lafz zaid karoon to woh Siyar se marwi hoga ya Yahya se.
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سَيَّارٍ، وَيَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، - أَمَّا سَيَّارٌ فَقَالَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، وَأَمَّا، يَحْيَى فَقَالَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، - قَالَ بَايَعْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ فِي عُسْرِنَا وَيُسْرِنَا وَمَنْشَطِنَا وَمَكْرَهِنَا وَأَثَرَةٍ عَلَيْنَا وَأَنْ لاَ نُنَازِعَ الأَمْرَ أَهْلَهُ وَأَنْ نَقُومَ بِالْحَقِّ حَيْثُمَا كَانَ لاَ نَخَافُ فِي اللَّهِ لَوْمَةَ لاَئِمٍ . قَالَ شُعْبَةُ سَيَّارٌ لَمْ يَذْكُرْ هَذَا الْحَرْفَ حَيْثُمَا كَانَ وَذَكَرَهُ يَحْيَى . قَالَ شُعْبَةُ إِنْ كُنْتُ زِدْتُ فِيهِ شَيْئًا فَهُوَ عَنْ سَيَّارٍ أَوْ عَنْ يَحْيَى .
