Ibn Abbad narrated that a man slandered one of his forefathers from the time of the Jahiliyyah, and Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) slapped him. His people came and said, ‘let him slap him as he slapped him,’ and they prepared for quarrel. News of that reached the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), and he ascended the Minbar and said, ‘O People, which of the people of the Earth do you know to be the most noble before Allah?’ They said, ‘you.’ He said, ‘Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) belongs to me and I to him. Do not defame our dead or offend our living.’ Those people came and said, ‘O Apostle of Allah ( صلى ہللاعليه و آله وسلم), we seek refuge with Allah from your anger, pray to give us.’

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ایک شخص نے ان کے جاہلیت کے کسی باپ دادا کو برا بھلا کہا تو عباس رضی اللہ عنہ نے اسے تھپڑ مار دیا، اس کے آدمیوں نے آ کر کہا: وہ لوگ بھی انہیں تھپڑ ماریں گے جیسا کہ انہوں نے مارا ہے اور ہتھیار اٹھا لیے۔ یہ بات نبی اکرم ﷺ تک پہنچی تو آپ منبر پر چڑھے اور فرمایا: ”لوگو! تم جانتے ہو کہ زمین والوں میں اللہ تعالیٰ کے نزدیک سب سے زیادہ باعزت کون ہے؟“ انہوں نے کہا: آپ، آپ نے فرمایا: ”تو عباس میرے ہیں اور میں عباس کا ہوں، تم لوگ ہمارے مردوں کو برا بھلا نہ کہو جس سے ہمارے زندوں کو تکلیف ہو“، ان لوگوں نے آ کر کہا: اللہ کے رسول! ہم آپ کے غصے سے اللہ کی پناہ مانگتے ہیں، ہمارے لیے مغفرت کی دعا فرمائیے۔
Abdul'laah bin Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a bayan karte hain ke aik shakhs ne un ke jahiliyat ke kisi baap dada ko bura bhala kaha to Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne use thappar mar diya, us ke aadmiyon ne aa kar kaha: wo log bhi unhen thappar marien ge jesa ke unhon ne mara hai aur hathiyar uthaa liye. yeh baat Nabi Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) tak pahunchi to aap mimbar par chare aur farmaya: "Logoo! tum jante ho ke zameen walon mein Allah Ta'ala ke nazdeek sab se zyada ba'azat kaun hai?" Unhon ne kaha: Aap, aap ne farmaya: "To Abbas mere hain aur main Abbas ka hun, tum log hamare mardon ko bura bhala nah kaho jis se hamare zindooon ko takleef ho", un logon ne aa kar kaha: Allah ke Rasool! hum aap ke ghusse se Allah ki panaah maangte hain, hamare liye maghfirat ki dua farma'iye.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ، يَقُولُ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، وَقَعَ فِي أَبٍ كَانَ لَهُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَلَطَمَهُ الْعَبَّاسُ فَجَاءَ قَوْمُهُ فَقَالُوا لَيَلْطِمَنَّهُ كَمَا لَطَمَهُ . فَلَبِسُوا السِّلاَحَ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَصَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَقَالَ " أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَىُّ أَهْلِ الأَرْضِ تَعْلَمُونَ أَكْرَمُ عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " . فَقَالُوا أَنْتَ . فَقَالَ " إِنَّ الْعَبَّاسَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ لاَ تَسُبُّوا مَوْتَانَا فَتُؤْذُوا أَحْيَاءَنَا " . فَجَاءَ الْقَوْمُ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ غَضَبِكَ اسْتَغْفِرْ لَنَا .
