Ibn Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated, ‘the Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) wore a ring of gold for three days, and when his Companions saw it, gold rings became popular. Then he threw it away and we did not realize what he had done. Then he ordered that a ring of silver be made, and that (the words), “Muhammad Rasullallah” be engraved on it. It remained on the hand of the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) until he died, then on the hand of Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) until he died, then on the hand of Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) until he died. Then (it remained) on the hand of Uthman (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) for the first six years of his duties, but when he had to write many letters, he gave it to a man from among Ansar who used to seal letters with it. Then the Ansari went out to a well belonging to Uthman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) and the ring fell. They looked for it but could not find it. He ordered that a similar ring be made and engraved (the words), “Muhammad Rasul lallah” on it.’

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے تین دن تک سونے کی انگوٹھی پہنی، پھر جب صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہم نے آپ کو دیکھا تو سونے کی انگوٹھی عام ہو گئی۔ یہ دیکھ کر آپ نے اسے نکال پھینکا۔ پھر معلوم نہیں وہ کیا ہوئی، پھر آپ نے چاندی کی انگوٹھی کا حکم دیا اور حکم دیا کہ اس میں ”محمد رسول اللہ“ نقش کر دیا جائے، وہ انگوٹھی رسول اللہ ﷺ کے ہاتھ میں رہی یہاں تک کہ آپ کی وفات ہو گئی، پھر ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کے ہاتھ میں رہی یہاں تک کہ وہ بھی وفات پا گئے، پھر عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کے ہاتھ میں رہی یہاں تک کہ وہ بھی وفات پا گئے، پھر عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کے ہاتھ میں ان کی مدت خلافت کے چھ سال تک رہی، پھر جب خطوط کثرت سے لکھے جانے لگے تو اسے انصار کے ایک شخص کے حوالے کر دیا، وہ اس سے مہریں لگاتا تھا۔ ایک بار وہ انصاری عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کے ایک کنوئیں پر گیا، تو وہ انگوٹھی ( اس میں ) گر گئی، اور تلاش کے باوجود نہ ملی۔ پھر اسی جیسی انگوٹھی بنانے کا حکم ہوا اور اس میں ”محمد رسول اللہ“ نقش کیا گیا۔
Abdul-allah bin Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se riwayat hai ke Rasool-allah sallal-lahu alaihi wa sallam ne teen din tak sone ki angothi pehni, phir jab Sahaba e kuram (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne aap ko dekha to sone ki angothi aam ho gayi. Yeh dekh kar aap ne ise nikal phenka. Phir ma'loom nahi woh kya hui, phir aap ne chandi ki angothi ka hukm diya aur hukm diya ke is mein "Muhammad Rasool-allah" nasq kar diya jaye, woh angothi Rasool-allah sallal-lahu alaihi wa sallam ke hath mein rahi yehan tak ke aap ki wafat ho gayi, phir Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke hath mein rahi yehan tak ke woh bhi wafat pa gaye, phir Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke hath mein rahi yehan tak ke woh bhi wafat pa gaye, phir Usman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke hath mein un ki muddat khilafat ke chhe sal tak rahi, phir jab khutut kasrat se likhe jane lage to ise Ansar ke ek shakhs ke hawale kar diya, woh is se mehrein lagata tha. Ek baar woh Ansari Usman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke ek kunwein per gaya, to woh angothi ( is mein ) gir gayi, aur talash ke ba-wujud na mili. Phir usi jaisi angothi banane ka hukm hua aur is mein "Muhammad Rasool-allah" nasq kiya gaya.
