Sunan an-Nasa'i 1080
It was narrated from Abu Malik Al-Ashja'i that his father said: "I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he did not say the Qunut, and I prayed behind Abu Bakr and he did not say the Qunut, and I prayed behind Umar and he did not say the Qunut, and I prayed behind Uthman and he did not say the Qunut, and I prayed behind Ali and he did not say the Qunut." Then he said: "O my son, this is an innovation."

ابو مالک اشجعی (سعد) اپنے والد (طارق بن اشیم) سے کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی تو آپ نے دعائے قنوت نہیں پڑھی، ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی تو انہوں نے بھی دعائے قنوت نہیں پڑھی، عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی تو انہوں نے بھی دعائے قنوت نہیں پڑھی، عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی تو انہوں نے بھی دعائے قنوت نہیں پڑھی، اور علی رضی اللہ عنہ کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی تو انہوں نے بھی دعائے قنوت نہیں پڑھی، پھر انہوں نے کہا: میرے بیٹے! یہ ( یعنی: مداومت ) بدعت ہے ۔
Abu Malik Ashja'i (Sa'd) apne walid (Tariq bin Ashim) se kehte hain ke main ne Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pichhe namaz padhi to aap ne du'a-e-qunut nahin padhi, Abu Bakr R.A. ke pichhe namaz padhi to unhon ne bhi du'a-e-qunut nahin padhi, Umar R.A. ke pichhe namaz padhi to unhon ne bhi du'a-e-qunut nahin padhi, Usman R.A. ke pichhe namaz padhi to unhon ne bhi du'a-e-qunut nahin padhi, aur Ali R.A. ke pichhe namaz padhi to unhon ne bhi du'a-e-qunut nahin padhi, phir unhon ne kaha: mere bete! yeh (yani: madaumat) bid'at hai
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ خَلَفٍ، - وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَلِيفَةَ - عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الأَشْجَعِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَلَمْ يَقْنُتْ وَصَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَلَمْ يَقْنُتْ وَصَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ عُمَرَ فَلَمْ يَقْنُتْ وَصَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ عُثْمَانَ فَلَمْ يَقْنُتْ وَصَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ عَلِيٍّ فَلَمْ يَقْنُتْ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا بُنَىَّ إِنَّهَا بِدْعَةٌ .
