Sunan an-Nasa'i 1136
Rifa'a bin Rafi (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that while the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) was sitting with us, (and we were sitting around him), a man came in, turned towards the Qibla and prayed. When he had finished his prayer, he came and greeted the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and the people with Salam. The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) told to him, ‘and also to you. Go and pray, for you have not prayed.' So he went and prayed, and the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) started watching him, and he (the man) did not know what was wrong with it. When he had finished the prayer, he came and greeted the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and the people with salam. The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) told him, ‘and also to you. Go and pray, for you have not prayed.' He repeated it two or three times, then the man said, 'O Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), what is wrong with my prayer?' The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘the prayer of any of you is not complete unless he performs wudu properly as enjoined by Allah, the Mighty and Sublime. So he should wash his face, his arms up to the elbows, and wipe his head, and (wash) his feet up to the ankles. Then he should exalt Allah (جَلَّ ذُو) and praise Him and glorify Him.' (One of the narrators) Hammam said, ‘I heard him say, 'he should praise Allah and glorify Him and exalt Him.’ He said, ‘I heard both of them’. He (the Prophet ﷺ) said, 'he should recite whatever is easy for him of the Quran that Allah has taught him and permitted him in it (the prayer). Then he should say the Takbir and bow until his joints settle and he is relaxed. Then he should say - َُّ ُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهسَمِعَ َّللا [Allah hears the one who praises Him], and stand up straight until his backbone is straight (at ease). Then he should say Takbir and prostrate until he has placed his face firmly on the ground’. ‘I heard him say, his forehead, until his joints settle and he is relaxed. Then he should say the Takbir and sit up until his backbone is straight (at ease). Then he should prostrate until he has placed his face firmly on the ground and he is relaxed. If he does not do that then he has not completed his prayer’.

رفاعہ بن رافع رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ بیٹھے تھے، اور ہم لوگ آپ کے اردگرد تھے، اتنے میں ایک شخص آیا اور وہ قبلہ رخ ہو کر نماز پڑھنے لگا، جب وہ اپنی نماز پوری کر چکا تو آیا، اور رسول اللہ ﷺ اور لوگوں کو سلام کیا، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے اس سے فرمایا: تم پر بھی سلامتی ہو، جاؤ پھر سے نماز پڑھو، کیونکہ تم نے نماز نہیں پڑھی ، تو وہ گیا، اور اس نے جا کر پھر سے نماز پڑھی، اور رسول اللہ ﷺ اس کی نماز کو کنکھیوں سے دیکھ رہے تھے لیکن وہ یہ جان نہیں رہا تھا کہ اس میں وہ کیا غلطی کر رہا ہے؟ تو جب وہ اپنی نماز پوری کر چکا تو آیا، اور اس نے رسول اللہ ﷺ اور لوگوں کو سلام کیا، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے پھر اس سے فرمایا: تم پر بھی سلامتی ہو، جاؤ پھر سے نماز پڑھو، کیونکہ تم نے نماز نہیں پڑھی ، چنانچہ اس نے دو یا تین بار نماز دہرائی، پھر اس شخص نے پوچھا: اللہ کے رسول! میری نماز میں آپ نے کیا خامی پائی ہے؟ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: تم میں سے کسی کی نماز پوری نہیں ہوتی جب تک کہ وہ اچھی طرح وضو نہ کر لے جس طرح اللہ تعالیٰ نے اس کے کرنے کا حکم دیا ہے، وہ اپنا چہرہ دھوئے، اپنے دونوں ہاتھ کہنیوں سمیت دھوئے، اپنے سر کا مسح کرے، اور اپنے دونوں پیر ٹخنوں سمیت دھوئے، پھر اللہ تعالیٰ کی بڑائی کرے ( یعنی تکبیر تحریمہ کہے ) اور اس کی حمد و ثناء اور بزرگی بیان کرے ( یعنی دعائے ثناء پڑھے ) ۔ ہمام کہتے ہیں: میں نے اسحاق کو «ويحمد اللہ ويمجده ويكبره» بھی کہتے سنا ہے، وہ کہتے ہیں: میں نے دونوں طرح سے انہیں کہتے سنا ہے۔ آگے آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: اور قرآن میں سے حسب توفیق اور مرضی الٰہی جو آسان ہو پڑھے، پھر اللہ اکبر کہے، اور رکوع کرے یہاں تک کہ اس کے تمام جوڑ اپنی جگہ آ جائیں، اور ڈھیلے پڑ جائیں، پھر «سمع اللہ لمن حمده» کہے، پھر سیدھا کھڑا ہو جائے یہاں تک اس کی پیٹھ برابر ہو جائے، پھر اللہ اکبر کہے، اور سجدہ کرے یہاں تک کہ وہ اپنا چہرہ زمین پر ٹکا دے ، ( میں نے اسحاق کو اپنی پیشانی بھی کہتے سنا ہے ) ، اور تمام جوڑ اپنی جگہ آ جائیں اور ڈھیلے پڑ جائیں، پھر اللہ اکبر کہے، اور اپنا سر اٹھائے یہاں تک کہ اپنی سرین پر سیدھا ہو کر بیٹھ جائے، اور اپنی پیٹھ سیدھی کر لے، پھر اللہ اکبر کہے، اور سجدہ کرے یہاں تک کہ وہ اپنا چہرہ زمین سے اچھی طرح ٹکا دے، اور ڈھیلا پڑ جائے، اگر اس نے اس طرح نہیں کیا تو اس کی نماز پوری نہیں ہوئی ۔
Rafa'ah bin Rafi' (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) baithe the, aur hum log aap ke ard gird the, itne mein ek shakhs aya aur woh qibla rukh ho kar namaz padhne laga, jab woh apni namaz puri kar chuka to aya, aur Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) aur logoon ko salam kiya, Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne us se farmaya: tum par bhi salamti ho, jao phir se namaz padho, kyun ke tum ne namaz nahin padhi, to woh gaya, aur us ne ja kar phir se namaz padhi, aur Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) is ki namaz ko kankhiyon se dekh rahe the lekin woh yeh jaan nahin raha tha ke is mein woh kya galti kar raha hai? to jab woh apni namaz puri kar chuka to aya, aur us ne Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) aur logoon ko salam kiya, Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne phir us se farmaya: tum par bhi salamti ho, jao phir se namaz padho, kyun ke tum ne namaz nahin padhi, chananchah us ne do ya teen bar namaz dahira'i, phir us shakhs ne poocha: Allah ke Rasool! meri namaz mein aap ne kya khami payi hai? Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: tum mein se kisi ki namaz puri nahin hoti jab tak ke woh achhi tarah wudu na kar le jis tarah Allah ta'ala ne us ke karne ka hukm diya hai, woh apna chehra dhuye, apne dono hath kahniyon samit dhuye, apne sar ka masah kare, aur apne dono pair takhnon samit dhuye, phir Allah ta'ala ki barai kare ( yani takbir tahrima kahe ) aur is ki hamd o sana aur buzarghi bayan kare ( yani du'a e sana padhe ) . Hamam kehte hain: main ne Ishaq ko «ويحمد اللہ ويمجده ويكبره» bhi kehte suna hai, woh kehte hain: main ne dono tarah se unhen kehte suna hai. Aage aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: aur Quran mein se hasb-e-tofiq aur marzi-e-ilahi jo asan ho padhe, phir Allah Akbar kahe, aur rukoo kare yeh tak ke us ke tamam jod apni jagah aa jaen, aur dhille pad jaen, phir «سمع اللہ لمن حمده» kahe, phir sidha khada ho jaye yeh tak is ki peth barabar ho jaye, phir Allah Akbar kahe, aur sajda kare yeh tak ke woh apna chehra zamin par tika de, ( main ne Ishaq ko apni peshani bhi kehte suna hai ) , aur tamam jod apni jagah aa jaen aur dhille pad jaen, phir Allah Akbar kahe, aur apna sar uthaye yeh tak ke apni sarin par sidha ho kar beth jaye, aur apni peth sidhi kar le, phir Allah Akbar kahe, aur sajda kare yeh tak ke woh apna chehra zamin se achhi tarah tika de, aur dhilla pad jaye, agar us ne is tarah nahin kiya to us ki namaz puri nahin hui ۱؎.
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْمُقْرِئُ أَبُو يَحْيَى، بِمَكَّةَ - وَهُوَ بَصْرِيٌّ - قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ يَحْيَى بْنِ خَلاَّدِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ رَافِعِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ، رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم جَالِسٌ وَنَحْنُ حَوْلَهُ إِذْ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ فَأَتَى الْقِبْلَةَ فَصَلَّى فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلاَتَهُ جَاءَ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَعَلَى الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " وَعَلَيْكَ اذْهَبْ فَصَلِّ فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ " . فَذَهَبَ فَصَلَّى فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَرْمُقُ صَلاَتَهُ وَلاَ يَدْرِي مَا يَعِيبُ مِنْهَا فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلاَتَهُ جَاءَ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَعَلَى الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " وَعَلَيْكَ اذْهَبْ فَصَلِّ فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ " . فَأَعَادَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلاَثًا فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا عِبْتَ مِنْ صَلاَتِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِنَّهَا لَمْ تَتِمَّ صَلاَةُ أَحَدِكُمْ حَتَّى يُسْبِغَ الْوُضُوءَ كَمَا أَمَرَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَيَغْسِلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ إِلَى الْمِرْفَقَيْنِ وَيَمْسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَرِجْلَيْهِ إِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَيَحْمَدَهُ وَيُمَجِّدَهُ " . قَالَ هَمَّامٌ وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ " وَيَحْمَدَ اللَّهَ وَيُمَجِّدَهُ وَيُكَبِّرَهُ " . قَالَ فَكِلاَهُمَا قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ قَالَ " وَيَقْرَأَ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مِمَّا عَلَّمَهُ اللَّهُ وَأَذِنَ لَهُ فِيهِ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرَ وَيَرْكَعَ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ مَفَاصِلُهُ وَتَسْتَرْخِيَ ثُمَّ يَقُولَ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ ثُمَّ يَسْتَوِيَ قَائِمًا حَتَّى يُقِيمَ صُلْبَهُ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرَ وَيَسْجُدَ حَتَّى يُمَكِّنَ وَجْهَهُ " . وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ " جَبْهَتَهُ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ مَفَاصِلُهُ وَتَسْتَرْخِيَ وَيُكَبِّرَ فَيَرْفَعَ حَتَّى يَسْتَوِيَ قَاعِدًا عَلَى مَقْعَدَتِهِ وَيُقِيمَ صُلْبَهُ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرَ فَيَسْجُدَ حَتَّى يُمَكِّنَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَسْتَرْخِيَ فَإِذَا لَمْ يَفْعَلْ هَكَذَا لَمْ تَتِمَّ صَلاَتُهُ " .
