Sunan an-Nasa'i 1901
Abdullah bin 'Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that when 'Abdullah bin Ubayy (رضي الله تعالى عنه) died, his son came to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and said, 'give me your shirt so that I may shroud him in it, and offer the (funeral) prayer for him, and pray for forgiveness for him'. So he gave him his shirt then he said, 'when you have finished, inform me and I will offer the (funeral) prayer for him.' But Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) stopped him and said, 'Has not Allah forbidden you to offer the (funeral) prayer for the hypocrites?' He said, 'I have two options. Whether you ask forgiveness for them (hypocrites) or ask no forgiveness for them.’ So, he offered the (funeral) prayer for him. Then Allah (تعَالَى) revealed - ٍوَالَ تُصَل ِ عَلَى أَحَد ِِ همِنْهُمْ مَاتَ أَبَدًا وَالَ تَقُمْ عَلَى قَبْر [And never pray (funeral prayer) for any of them (hypocrites) who dies, nor stand at his grave.] So, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stopped offering the (funeral) prayer for them.’

جابر بن عبداللہ رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ عبداللہ بن ابی کی قبر پر آئے، اور اسے اس کی قبر میں رکھا جا چکا تھا، تو آپ اس پر کھڑے ہوئے، اور اس کے نکالنے کا حکم دیا تو اسے نکالا گیا، تو آپ نے اسے اپنے دونوں گھٹنوں پر رکھا، اور اپنی قمیص پہنائی اور اس پر تھو تھو کیا، واللہ تعالیٰ اعلم۔
Jabir bin Abdullah ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a kehte hain ke Nabi-e-Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Abdullah bin Abi ki qabr par aaye, aur usay is ki qabr mein rakha ja chuka tha, to aap is par khade hue, aur is ke nikalne ka hukm diya to usay nikala gaya, to aap ne usay apne dono ghutno par rakha, aur apni qamis pehnayi aur is par thoo thoo kiya, wallahu ta'ala a'lam.
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا، يَقُولُ أَتَى النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَبْرَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُبَىٍّ وَقَدْ وُضِعَ فِي حُفْرَتِهِ فَوَقَفَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَأُخْرِجَ لَهُ فَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ وَأَلْبَسَهُ قَمِيصَهُ وَنَفَثَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ رِيقِهِ وَاللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَعْلَمُ .
