Chapter: Mentioning the Different Wordings Reported by Az-Zuhri about the Makhzumi Woman who Stole

باب ذِكْرِ اخْتِلاَفِ أَلْفَاظِ النَّاقِلِينَ لِخَبَرِ الزُّهْرِيِّ فِي الْمَخْزُومِيَّةِ الَّتِي سَرَقَتْ
Sunan an-Nasa'i 4901
Ummul Momineen Aishah (رضي الله تعالى عنها) narrated that a woman stole at the time of Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and they said, ‘we cannot speak to him concerning her, there is no one who can speak to him except his beloved, Usamah (رضي الله تعالى عنه).’ So he spoke to him, and he said, ‘O Usamah (رضي الله تعالى عنه), the Children of Israel were destroyed for such a thing. Whenever a noble person among them stole, they would let him go, but if a low-class person among them stole, they would cut off his hand. If it were Fatimah bint Muhammad ( رضي الله تعالى عنها) who stole, I would cut off her hand’.’

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ قریش کو مخزومی عورت کے معاملے نے فکر میں ڈال دیا جس نے چوری کی تھی۔ ان لوگوں نے کہا: اس کے بارے میں رسول اللہ ﷺ سے کون بات کرے گا؟ لوگوں نے کہا: اس کی جرات رسول اللہ ﷺ کے محبوب اسامہ بن زید کے سوا اور کون کر سکتا ہے؟ چنانچہ اسامہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے آپ سے بات کی تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”تم سے پہلے کے لوگ اس لیے ہلاک ہو گئے کہ جب ان میں کوئی معزز اور باوقار آدمی چوری کرتا تو اسے چھوڑ دیتے اور جب کوئی کمزور اور بے حیثیت آدمی چوری کرتا تو اس پر حد نافذ کرتے، اللہ کی قسم! اگر فاطمہ بنت محمد نے چوری کی ہوتی تو میں اس کا ہاتھ کاٹ دیتا“۔
Am al-Momineen Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) kehti hain ke Quraysh ko Makhzumi aurat ke maamle ne fikr mein dal diya jis ne chori ki thi. In logon ne kaha: Is ke baare mein Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se kaun baat karega? Logon ne kaha: Is ki jurrat Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke mahuboob Usama bin Zaid ke swa aur kaun kar sakta hai? Chanaanchh Usama (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne aap se baat ki to aap ne farmaya: “Tum se pehle ke log is liye halak ho gaye ke jab in mein koi muazziz aur ba wuqar aadmi chori karta to usay chhod dete aur jab koi kamzor aur be hayaseet aadmi chori karta to us par had nafiz karte, Allah ki qasam! Agar Fatima bint Muhammad ne chori ki hoti to mein is ka hath kaat deta”.
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَبَلَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ أَعْيَنَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ قُرَيْشًا، أَهَمَّهُمْ شَأْنُ الْمَخْزُومِيَّةِ الَّتِي سَرَقَتْ فَقَالُوا مَنْ يُكَلِّمُ فِيهَا قَالُوا مَنْ يَجْتَرِئُ عَلَيْهِ إِلاَّ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حِبُّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم . فَكَلَّمَهُ أُسَامَةُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِنَّمَا هَلَكَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا إِذَا سَرَقَ فِيهِمُ الشَّرِيفُ تَرَكُوهُ وَإِذَا سَرَقَ فِيهِمُ الضَّعِيفُ أَقَامُوا عَلَيْهِ الْحَدَّ وَايْمُ اللَّهِ لَوْ سَرَقَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ مُحَمَّدٍ لَقَطَعْتُ يَدَهَا " .
