Sunan an-Nasa'i 5538
Abdullah bin Al-Harith narrated that when it was said to Zaid bin Arqam, ‘tell us what you heard from the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), he said, ‘I will not tell you anything but that which the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) commanded us to say - َاللَّهُمَّ إِّن ِّي أَعُوذُ بِّكَ مِّن َِّ اللَّهُمَّ آتِّ نَفْسِّي تَقْوَمِّ وَعَذَابِّ الْقَبْرِّ وَالْكَسَلِّ وَالْبُخْلِّ وَالْجُبْنِّ وَالْهَرالْعَجْز َّْ الَهَا اللَّهُمَكَّاهَا أَنْتَ وَلِّيُّهَا وَمَوَك ِّهَا أَنْتَ خَيْرُ مَنْ زاهَا وَ ز ٍُ الَ تَشْبَعُ وَمِّنْ قَلْبٍ الَ يَخْشَعُ وَمِّنْ عِّلْمٍ الَ يَنْفَعُ وَدَعْوَ ةٍ الَ تُسْتَجَابإِّن ِّي أَعُوذُ بِّكَ مِّنَ نَفْس [O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity, laziness, miserliness, cowardice, old age, the torment of the grave. O Allah, make my nafs obedient and purify it, for You are the best One to purify it, You are its Guardian and Lord. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from a nafs that is not satisfied, a heart that is not humble, knowledge that is of no benefit and a supplication that is not answered].

عبداللہ بن حارث کہتے ہیں کہ جب زید بن ارقم رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہا جاتا: ہمیں رسول اللہ ﷺ کی کوئی حدیث سنایئے جو آپ نے خود سنی ہو تو وہ کہتے: میں تم سے وہی بیان کر رہا ہوں جو رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ہم سے بیان کیا، آپ ہمیں حکم دیتے کہ ہم کہیں: «اللہم إني أعوذ بك من العجز والكسل والبخل والجبن والهرم وعذاب القبر اللہم آت نفسي تقواها وزكها أنت خير من زكاها أنت وليها ومولاها اللہم إني أعوذ بك من نفس لا تشبع ومن قلب لا يخشع ومن علم لا ينفع ودعوة لا تستجاب» ”اے اللہ! عاجزی، سستی، بخیلی، بزدلی، بڑھاپے اور قبر کے عذاب سے تیری پناہ چاہتا ہوں، اے اللہ! تو میرے نفس کو تقویٰ عطا کر، اسے پاک کر دے، تو ہی سب سے بہتر پاک کرنے والا ہے، تو اس کا سر پرست اور مولا ہے، اے اللہ! میں ایسے نفس سے تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں جو سیر نہ ہو، ایسے دل سے جس میں خوف الٰہی نہ ہو، ایسے علم سے جو مفید اور نفع بخش نہ ہو اور ایسی دعا ہے جو قبول نہ ہو“۔
Abdul-lah bin Haris kehte hain ke jab Zaiad bin Arqam (رضي الله تعالى عنه)u se kaha jata: hamen Rasul-ullah sall-Allahu alaihi wa sallam ki koi hadees sunaaiye jo apne khud suni ho to wo kehte: main tum se wahi bayan kar raha hun jo Rasul-ullah sall-Allahu alaihi wa sallam ne hum se bayan kiya, ap hamen hukm dete hain ke hum kahen: «Allahumma inni auzoo bika min al-ajzi wa al-kasali wa al-bukhli wa al-jubni wa al-harami wa azaab al-qabr Allahumma ati nafsi taqwaha wa zakkaha anta khairu man zakkaha anta waliha wa moulaha Allahumma inni auzoo bika min nafsin la tashba'u wa min qalbin la yakhashu'u wa min ilmin la yanfa'u wa du'a la tastajib» "Ae Allah! Ajzi, sasti, bukhli, buzdli, barhape aur qabr ke azaab se teri panah chahta hun, Ae Allah! To mere nafs ko taqwa ata kar, ise pak kar de, tu hi sab se behtar pak karne wala hai, tu is ka sir parast aur moula hai, Ae Allah! Main aise nafs se teri panah mangta hun jo seir nah ho, aise dil se jis mein khouf ilahi nah ho, aise ilm se jo mufeed aur nafeh baksh nah ho aur aisi dua hai jo qabool nah ho".
أَخْبَرَنَا وَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، عَنِ ابْنِ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، قَالَ كَانَ إِذَا قِيلَ لِزَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ حَدِّثْنَا مَا، سَمِعْتَ مِنْ، رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ لاَ أُحَدِّثُكُمْ إِلاَّ مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَدَّثَنَا بِهِ وَيَأْمُرُنَا أَنْ نَقُولَ " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ وَالْهَرَمِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ اللَّهُمَّ آتِ نَفْسِي تَقْوَاهَا وَزَكِّهَا أَنْتَ خَيْرُ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا أَنْتَ وَلِيُّهَا وَمَوْلاَهَا اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ نَفْسٍ لاَ تَشْبَعُ وَمِنْ قَلْبٍ لاَ يَخْشَعُ وَمِنْ عِلْمٍ لاَ يَنْفَعُ وَدَعْوَةٍ لاَ تُسْتَجَابُ " .
