Sunan an-Nasa'i 716
It was narrated that Sa'eed bin Al-Musayyab said : "Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) passed by Hassan bin Thabit (رضي الله تعالى عنه) while he was reciting poetry in the Masjid, and glared at him. He said : 'I recited poetry when there was someone better than you in the Masjid.' Then he turned to Abu Huraira ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) and said : 'Did you not hear the Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) when he said : "Answer back on my behalf. O Allah, help him with the Holy Spirit!' He said : 'Yes, by Allah.'"

سعید بن مسیب کہتے ہیں کہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ حسان بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس سے گزرے، وہ مسجد میں اشعار پڑھ رہے تھے، تو عمران رضی اللہ عنہ کی طرف گھورنے لگے، تو انہوں نے کہا: میں نے ( مسجد میں ) شعر پڑھا ہے، اور اس میں ایسی ہستی موجود ہوتی تھی جو آپ سے بہتر تھی، پھر وہ ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے، اور پوچھا: کیا آپ نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو ( مجھ سے ) یہ کہتے نہیں سنا کہ تم میری طرف سے ( کافروں کو ) جواب دو، اے اللہ! روح القدس کے ذریعہ ان کی تائید فرما! ، تو ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا! ہاں ( سنا ہے ) ۔
Saeed bin Maseeb kehte hain ke Omar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) Hasan bin Thabit (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke pas se guzare, woh masjid mein ash'aar padh rahe the, to Umran (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ki taraf ghoorne lage, to unhon ne kaha: main ne ( masjid mein ) shi'r padha hai, aur is mein aisi hasti maujud hoti thi jo aap se behtar thi, phir woh Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ki taraf mutwajjeh hue, aur poocha: kya aap ne Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ( mujh se ) yeh kehte nahi suna ke tum meri taraf se ( kafiron ko ) jawab do, Aey Allah! Rooh ul Quds ke zari'a in ki ta'eed farma! , to Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne kaha! Haan ( suna hai ) .
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، قَالَ مَرَّ عُمَرُ بِحَسَّانَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ وَهُوَ يُنْشِدُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَلَحَظَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ قَدْ أَنْشَدْتُ وَفِيهِ مَنْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْكَ ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ إِلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ فَقَالَ أَسَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ " أَجِبْ عَنِّي اللَّهُمَّ أَيِّدْهُ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ " . قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ .
