Sunan an-Nasa'i 789
Amr bin Salimah Al-Jarmi (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) said: "Riders used to pass by us and we would learn the Qur'an from them. My father came to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and he said : 'Let the one of you who knows most Qur'an lead the prayer.' My father came and said that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) had said : 'Let the one of you who knows most Quran lead you in prayer.' They looked and found that I was the one who knew most Qur'an, so I used to lead them in prayer when I was eight years old.'

عمرو بن سلمہ جرمی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہمارے پاس سے قافلے گزرتے تھے تو ہم ان سے قرآن سیکھتے تھے ( جب ) میرے والد نبی اکرم ﷺ کے پاس آئے، تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: تم میں سے امامت وہ آدمی کرے جسے قرآن زیادہ یاد ہو ، تو جب میرے والد لوٹ کر آئے تو انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا ہے: تم میں سے امامت وہ آدمی کرے جسے قرآن زیادہ یاد ہو ، تو لوگوں نے نگاہ دوڑائی تو ان میں سب سے بڑا قاری میں ہی تھا، چنانچہ میں ہی ان کی امامت کرتا تھا، اور اس وقت میں آٹھ سال کا بچہ تھا ۔
Amr bin Salma Jarmi (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke hamare pas se qaflay guzarte thay to hum un se Quran seekhte thay ( jab ) mere walid Nabi-e-Akram sallaAllahu alaihi wasallam ke pas aaye, to aap sallaAllahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: Tum mein se imamat woh aadmi kare jise Quran zyada yaad ho, to jab mere walid laut kar aaye to unhon ne kaha ke Rasoolullah sallaAllahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya hai: Tum mein se imamat woh aadmi kare jise Quran zyada yaad ho, to logon ne nigah daurayi to un mein sab se bada qari mein hi tha, chananche mein hi un ki imamat karta tha, aur is waqt mein aath sal ka bachcha tha 1؎.
أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَسْرُوقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ سَلِمَةَ الْجَرْمِيُّ، قَالَ كَانَ يَمُرُّ عَلَيْنَا الرُّكْبَانُ فَنَتَعَلَّمُ مِنْهُمُ الْقُرْآنَ فَأَتَى أَبِي النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ " لِيَؤُمَّكُمْ أَكْثَرُكُمْ قُرْآنًا " . فَجَاءَ أَبِي فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " لِيَؤُمَّكُمْ أَكْثَرُكُمْ قُرْآنًا " . فَنَظَرُوا فَكُنْتُ أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا فَكُنْتُ أَؤُمُّهُمْ وَأَنَا ابْنُ ثَمَانِ سِنِينَ .
