Sunan an-Nasa'i 846
It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Abi Qatada that his father said : "We were with the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) when some of the people said : 'Why do you not stop with us to rest awhile, O Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)?' He said : 'I am afraid that you will sleep and miss the prayer.' Bilal (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said : 'I will wake you up.' So they lay down and slept, and Bilal (رضي الله تعالى عنه) leaned back on his mount. Then the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) woke up when the sun had already started to rise, and he said : 'O Bilal (رضي الله تعالى عنه), what about what you told us?' He said : 'I have never slept like that before.' The Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said : 'Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, takes your souls when He wills and sends them back when He wills.' Stand up O Bilal (رضي الله تعالى عنه) and call the people to prayer.' Then Bilal (رضي الله تعالى عنه) stood up and called the Adhan, and they performed Wudu' - that is, when the sun had risen (fully) - "then he stood and lead them in prayer."

ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم ( سفر میں ) رسول اللہ ﷺ کے ساتھ تھے کہ لوگ کہنے لگے: اللہ کے رسول! کاش آپ آرام کے لیے پڑاؤ ڈالتے، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: مجھے ڈر ہے کہ تم کہیں نماز سے سو نہ جاؤ ، اس پر بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: میں آپ سب کی نگرانی کروں گا، چنانچہ سب لوگ لیٹے، اور سب سو گئے، بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نے اپنی پیٹھ اپنی سواری سے ٹیک لی، ( اور وہ بھی سو گئے ) رسول اللہ ﷺ بیدار ہوئے تو سورج نکل چکا تھا، آپ ﷺ نے بلال رضی اللہ عنہ سے فرمایا: بلال! کہاں گئی وہ بات جو تم نے کہی تھی؟ بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا: مجھ پر ایسی نیند جیسی اس بار ہوئی کبھی طاری نہیں ہوئی تھی، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: بیشک اللہ تعالیٰ جب چاہتا ہے تمہاری روحیں قبض کر لیتا ہے، اور جب چاہتا ہے اسے لوٹا دیتا ہے، بلال اٹھو! اور لوگوں میں نماز کا اعلان کرو ؛ چنانچہ بلال کھڑے ہوئے، اور انہوں نے اذان دی، پھر لوگوں نے وضو کیا، اس وقت سورج بلند ہو چکا تھا، تو آپ کھڑے ہوئے اور آپ ﷺ نے لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائی۔
Aboo Qatadah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain keh hum (safar mein) rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke sath they keh log kahne lage: Allah ke rasool! kash aap aaram ke liye padav daalte, aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: mujhe dar hai keh tum kahin namaz se so na jao, is par Bilal (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne kaha: mein aap sab ki nigrani karoon ga, chananchh sab log laite, aur sab so gaye, Bilal (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne apni peeth apni sawari se teek li, (aur woh bhi so gaye) rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) bedar hue to sooraj nikal chuka tha, aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Bilal (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se farmaya: Bilal! kahan gai woh baat jo tum ne kahi thi? Bilal (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne arz kiya: mujh par aisi neend jesi is bar hoi kabhi tari nahin hui thi, rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: beshak Allah Ta'ala jab chahta hai tumhari roohan qabaz kar leta hai, aur jab chahta hai use lauta deta hai, Bilal utho! aur logon mein namaz ka ilan karo; chananchh Bilal khade hue, aur unhon ne azan di, phir logon ne wazu kiya, is waqt sooraj buland ho chuka tha, to aap khade hue aur aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne logon ko namaz padhai.
أَخْبَرَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُبَيْدٍ، - وَاسْمُهُ عَبْثَرُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ - عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذْ قَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ لَوْ عَرَّسْتَ بِنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . قَالَ " إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ تَنَامُوا عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ " . قَالَ بِلاَلٌ أَنَا أَحْفَظُكُمْ . فَاضْطَجَعُوا فَنَامُوا وَأَسْنَدَ بِلاَلٌ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَقَدْ طَلَعَ حَاجِبُ الشَّمْسِ فَقَالَ " يَا بِلاَلُ أَيْنَ مَا قُلْتَ " . قَالَ مَا أُلْقِيَتْ عَلَىَّ نَوْمَةٌ مِثْلُهَا قَطُّ . قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَبَضَ أَرْوَاحَكُمْ حِينَ شَاءَ فَرَدَّهَا حِينَ شَاءَ قُمْ يَا بِلاَلُ فَآذِنِ النَّاسَ بِالصَّلاَةِ " . فَقَامَ بِلاَلٌ فَأَذَّنَ فَتَوَضَّئُوا - يَعْنِي حِينَ ارْتَفَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ - ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ .
