كِتَابُ الدُّعَاءِ
Regarding the greatest name of Allah.
فِي اسْمِ اللَّهِ الْأَعْظَمِ

Hazrat Masruq narrates that I heard Hazrat Sha'bi saying: The greatest name of Allah is the word Allah. Then he or I recited this verse to him: Allah, the Creator. Until the end of the verse.
حضرت مسعر فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے حضرت شعبی کا قول سنا ہے : اللہ کا اسم اعظم لفظ اللہ ہے۔ پھر انھوں نے یا میں نے ان پر یہ آیت تلاوت فرمائی، وہ اللہ جو پیدا کرنے والا ہے۔ آیت کے اختتام تک۔

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ ، عَمَّنْ سَمِعَ الشَّعْبِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : « اسْمُ اللَّهِ الْأَعْظَمُ »، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ - أَوْ قَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ - ﴿ هُوَ اللَّهُ الْخَالِقُ ﴾ [ الحشر : ٢٤ ] إِلَى آخِرِهَا ، « وَإِذَا دَعَا الرَّجُلُ فَلْيُكْثِرْ »
