كِتَابُ الزُّهْدِ
The Words of Ubayd ibn Umayr
كَلَامُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ

It is narrated on the authority of Hadrat Ubaid bin Umair that he said that Allah Almighty has undoubtedly made some things lawful and some things forbidden. So, what Allah has made lawful, you should consider it lawful, and what Allah has made forbidden, you should avoid it. And some things Allah Almighty has left, neither has He declared them forbidden nor has He declared them lawful. This is a forgiveness from God. Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited this verse: {O you who believe! Do not ask about things...} until the end of the verse.
حضرت عبید بن عمیر سے روایت ہے وہ کہتے ہیں کہ بلاشبہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے حلال کیا ہے اور حرام کیا ہے۔ پس جس چیز کو اللہ نے حلال کیا ہے تم اس کو حلال جانو اور جس چیز کو اللہ نے حرام کیا ہے تم اس سے اجتناب کرو۔ اور ان میں سے بعض چیزوں کو اللہ تعالیٰ نے چھوڑ دیا ہے نہ ان کو حرام قرار دیا ہے اور نہ ان کو حلال قرار دیا ہے۔ یہ خدا کی طرف سے معافی ہے پھر آپ (رض) نے یہ آیت تلاوت کی : { یَا أَیُّہَا الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا لاَ تَسْأَلُوا عَنْ أَشْیَائَ۔۔۔} آخر آیت تک۔
Hazrat Obaid bin Umair se riwayat hai woh kehte hain ke bilashuba Allah taala ne halal kya hai aur haram kya hai pas jis cheez ko Allah ne halal kya hai tum us ko halal jano aur jis cheez ko Allah ne haram kya hai tum us se ijtinaab karo aur in mein se baaz cheezon ko Allah taala ne chhor diya hai na in ko haram qarar diya hai aur na in ko halal qarar diya hai yeh khuda ki taraf se maafi hai phir aap (RA) ne yeh ayat tilawat ki ya ayyuhal lazeena aamanu laa tas'alu an ashya۔۔۔ akhir ayat tak
عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : « إنَّ اللَّهَ أَحَلَّ وَحَرَّمَ ، فَمَا أَحَلَّ فَاسْتَحِلُّوهُ ، وَمَا حَرَّمَ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ ، وَتَرَكَ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ أَشْيَاءَ لَمْ يُحِلَّهَا وَلَمْ يُحَرِّمْهَا ، فَذَلِكَ عَفْوٌ مِنْ اللَّهِ عَفَاهُ »، ثُمَّ يَتْلُو : " ﴿ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَسْأَلُوا عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ ﴾ [ المائدة : ١٠١ ] " إلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ
