كِتَابُ الزُّهْدِ
The Words of Ubayd ibn Umayr
كَلَامُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ

It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair that when the flood of drowning came upon the people of Hazrat Nuh (AS), he said that there was a woman with those people who had a child with her. The narrator says: That woman lifted the child up to her waist. When the water reached the waist, she lifted the child to her chest. Then when the water reached the chest, she lifted the child to her breast. Allah Almighty said: If I had mercy on any of these people, I would have mercy on this woman, that is, because of her mercy on the child.
حضرت عبید بن عمیر سے روایت ہے کہ حضرت نوح کی قوم پر جب غرق کا سیلاب آیا کہتے ہیں کہ ان لوگوں کے ہمراہ ایک عورت تھی جس کے پاس بچہ تھا۔ راوی کہتے ہیں : اس عورت نے بچہ کو کمر تک اوپر اٹھایا۔ جب پانی کمر تک پہنچا تو اس نے بچہ کو اپنے سینہ تک بلند کرلیا پھر جب پانی سینہ کو پہنچا تو اس نے بچہ کو اپنے پستان تک بلند کردیا۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے فرمایا : اگر میں ان لوگوں میں سے کسی پر رحم کرتا تو میں اس عورت پر رحم کرتا، یعنی اس کی طرف سے بچہ پر رحم کی وجہ سے۔
Hazrat Obaid bin Umair se riwayat hai ki Hazrat Nuh ki qaum par jab gharq ka sailaab aaya kehte hain ki un logon ke hamrah ek aurat thi jis ke paas bachcha tha. Ravi kehte hain : Is aurat ne bachche ko kamar tak upar uthaya. Jab pani kamar tak pahuncha to usne bachche ko apne seena tak buland karliya phir jab pani seena ko pahuncha to usne bachche ko apne pistan tak buland kardiya. Allah ta'ala ne farmaya : Agar main in logon mein se kisi par reham karta to main is aurat par reham karta, yani uski taraf se bachche par reham ki wajah se.
وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُهُ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ : « إنَّ قَوْمَ نُوحٍ لَمَّا أَصَابَهُمْ الْغَرَقُ »، قَالَ : « وَكَانَتْ مَعَهُمْ امْرَأَةٌ مَعَهَا صَبِيٌّ لَهَا »، قَالَ : " فَرَفَعَتْهُ إلَى حَقْوِهَا ، فَلَمَّا بَلَغَهُ الْمَاءُ رَفَعَتْهُ إلَى صَدْرِهَا ، فَلَمَّا بَلَغَهُ الْمَاءُ رَفَعَتْهُ إلَى ثَدْيِهَا ، فَقَالَ اللَّهُ : لَوْ كُنْتُ رَاحِمًا مِنْهُمْ أَحَدًا رَحِمْتُهَا " يَعْنِي : بِرَحْمَتِهَا الصَّبِيَّ
