The Hadith of the Night Journey When the Prophet ﷺ Was Taken Up

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaddad that when the Prophet Karim (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was taken on the night journey, an animal larger than a donkey and smaller than a mule was brought. He used to place his foot at the farthest point of his gaze. It was called Buraq. So when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by the caravan of the camels of the polytheists, they became suspicious. The polytheists said: O friends! What is this? They replied: We do not see anything. It's just the wind. Until you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) reached Bait al-Maqdis. Two vessels were brought to you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). One contained wine and the other contained milk. So when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took the (vessel of) milk, Gabriel said to you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): You have been guided to the straight path and your Ummah has been rightly guided. Then you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went towards the city.
حضرت عبداللہ بن شداد سے روایت ہے کہ جب نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو رات کو سیر کروائی گئی تو ایک گدھے سے بڑا ، خچر سے چھوٹا ایک جانور لایا گیا۔ وہ اپنی منتہی نظر پر اپنا قدم رکھتا تھا۔ اس کو براق کہا جاتا تھا۔ پس اللہ کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) مشرکین کے اونٹوں کے قافلے کے پاس سے گزرے تو وہ بدک گئے مشرکین نے کہا : یارو ! یہ کیا ہے ؟ انھوں نے جواب دیا۔ ہمیں تو کوئی چیز دکھائی نہیں دیتی۔ یہ تو فقط ہوا ہے۔ یہاں تک کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) بیت المقدس پہنچ گئے۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس دو برتن لائے گئے۔ ایک میں شراب تھی اور دوسرے میں دودھ تھا۔ پس نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے دودھ (والا برتن) پکڑ لیا تو جبرائیل نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو کہا۔ آپ کی راہ راست کی طرف راہنمائی کی گئی ہے اور آپ کی امت کو درست راہنمائی کی گئی ہے۔ پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) شہر کی طرف چلے۔
Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaddad se riwayat hai ki jab Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko raat ko sair karwai gai to ek gadhe se bada, khachhar se chhota ek janwar laya gaya. Woh apni muntahi nazar par apna qadam rakhta tha. Iss ko Buraq kaha jata tha. Pas Allah ke Rasul (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) mushrikeen ke unton ke qafila ke pass se guzre to woh badk gaye. Mushrikeen ne kaha: Yaaro! Yeh kya hai? Unhon ne jawab diya. Hamein to koi cheez dikhai nahi deti. Yeh to faqat hawa hai. Yahan tak ke aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Baitul Muqaddas pahunch gaye. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke pass do bartan laye gaye. Ek mein sharaab thi aur dusre mein doodh tha. Pas Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne doodh (wala bartan) pakad liya to Jibraeel ne aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko kaha. Aap ki rah-e-raast ki taraf rahnumai ki gai hai aur aap ki ummat ko durust rahnumai ki gai hai. Phir aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) shehar ki taraf chale.
عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا أُسْرِيَ بِالنَّبِيِّ ﷺ أُتِيَ بِدَابَّةٍ فَوْقَ الْحِمَارِ وَدُونَ الْبَغْلِ ، يَضَعُ حَافِرَهُ عِنْدَ مُنْتَهَى طَرَفِهِ ، يُقَالُ لَهُ بُرَاقٌ فَمَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِعِيرٍ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ فَنَفَرَتْ فَقَالُوا : يَا هَؤُلَاءِ مَا هَذَا ؟ قَالُوا : مَا نَرَى شَيْئًا ، مَا هَذِهِ إِلَّا رِيحٌ ، حَتَّى أَتَى بَيْتَ الْمَقْدِسِ فَأُتِيَ بِإِنَاءَيْنِ فِي وَاحِدٍ خَمْرٌ وَفِي الْآخَرِ لَبَنٌ ، فَأَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اللَّبَنَ فَقَالَ لَهُ جِبْرِيلُ هُدِيتَ وَهَدَيْتَ أُمَّتَكَ ثُمَّ صَارَ إِلَى مُضَرَ "
