Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said : 'When one of you leads the people in prayer then let him be brief, for surely among the people are the young and the old, the weak and the ill. When one of you prays alone, then let him pray as he wishes." Imam Tirmidhi said there are narrations on this topic from Adi bin Hatim, Anas, Jabir bin Samurah, Malik bin Abdullah, Abu Waqid, Uthman bin (Abi) al-A'as, Abu Masud, Jabir bin Abdullah and Ibn Abbas ( رضي الله تعالى عنهم اجمعين). Imam Tirmidhi said the Hadith of Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) is a Hasan Sahih Hadith. And it is the saying of most of the people of knowledge, they prefer that the Imam not lengthen and prolong the prayer, fearing hardship for the weak, the elderly and the ill. Imam Tirmidhi said, the name of Abu Az-Zinad (one of the narrators) is Abdullah bin Dhakwan and Al-Araj (another narrator) is Abdur Rahman bin Hurmuz (al-Madani), and his Kunya is Abu Dawood.

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”جب تم میں سے کوئی لوگوں کی امامت کرے تو چاہیئے کہ ہلکی نماز پڑھائے، کیونکہ ان میں چھوٹے، بڑے، کمزور اور بیمار سبھی ہوتے ہیں اور جب وہ تنہا نماز پڑھے تو جیسے چاہے پڑھے“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں عدی بن حاتم، انس، جابر بن سمرہ، مالک بن عبداللہ، ابوواقد، عثمان، ابومسعود، جابر بن عبداللہ اور ابن عباس رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- یہی اکثر اہل علم کا قول ہے، ان لوگوں نے اسی کو پسند کیا کہ امام نماز لمبی نہ پڑھائے تاکہ کمزور، بوڑھے اور بیمار لوگوں کو پریشانی نہ ہو۔
Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se riwayat hai ke Nabi-e-Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Jab tum mein se koi logon ki imamat kare to chahiye ke halki namaz padhaye, kyunke in mein chhote, bade, kamzor aur bimar sabhi hote hain aur jab woh tanha namaz padhe to jaise chahe padhe" 1\u060c. Imam Tirmizi kehte hain: 1. Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ki hadees Hasan sahih hai, 2. Is bab mein Adi bin Hatim, Anas, Jabir bin Samurah, Malik bin Abdullah, Abu Waqad, Usman, Abu Mas'ud, Jabir bin Abdullah aur Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se bhi ahadees aayi hain, 3. Yahi aksar ahl-e-ilm ka qoul hai, in logon ne isi ko pasand kiya ke imam namaz lambi na padhaye taake kamzor, boorhe aur bimar logon ko pareshani na ho.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: إِذَا أَمَّ أَحَدُكُمُ النَّاسَ فَلْيُخَفِّفْ فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الصَّغِيرَ وَالْكَبِيرَ وَالضَّعِيفَ وَالْمَرِيضَ، فَإِذَا صَلَّى وَحْدَهُ فَلْيُصَلِّ كَيْفَ شَاءَ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، وَأَنَسٍ، وَجَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، وَمَالِكِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، وَأَبِي وَاقِدٍ، وَعُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، وَأَبِي مَسْعُودٍ، وَجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: وَحَدِيثُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَكْثَرِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ اخْتَارُوا أَنْ لَا يُطِيلَ الْإِمَامُ الصَّلَاةَ مَخَافَةَ الْمَشَقَّةِ عَلَى الضَّعِيفِ وَالْكَبِيرِ وَالْمَرِيضِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: وَأَبُو الزِّنَادِ اسْمُهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ ذَكْوَانَ، وَالْأَعْرَجُ هُوَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ هُرْمُزَ الْمَدِينِيُّ وَيُكْنَى أَبَا دَاوُدَ.
