Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2454
Abdullah bin Mas'ud (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) drew a square line (on the ground) for us, and in the middle of the (square) line he drew another line, and he drew another line going out of the (square) line. Around the one that was in the middle, he drew (various) lines. Then he said, 'this is the son of Adam (عليه السالم), and this is his lifespan encircling him, and this one in the middle in the person, and these lines are his obstacles, if he escapes this one, this one ensnares him, and the line extending outside is, his hope.' Imam Tirmidhi said, this Hadith is Sahih.

عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ایک مربع خط ( یعنی چوکور ) لکیر کھینچی اور ایک لکیر درمیان میں اس سے باہر نکلتا ہوا کھینچی، اور اس درمیانی لکیر کے بغل میں چند چھوٹی چھوٹی لکیریں اور کھینچی، پھر فرمایا: ”یہ ابن آدم ہے اور یہ لکیر اس کی موت کی ہے جو ہر طرف سے اسے گھیرے ہوئے ہے۔ اور یہ درمیان والی لکیر انسان ہے ( یعنی اس کی آرزوئیں ہیں ) اور یہ چھوٹی چھوٹی لکیریں انسان کو پیش آنے والے حوادث ہیں، اگر ایک حادثہ سے وہ بچ نکلا تو دوسرا اسے ڈس لے گا اور باہر نکلنے والا خط اس کی امید ہے ۔
Abdullah bin Masood Raziallahu Anhu kehte hain ki Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne aik murabba khat (yani chaukor) lakeer khenchi aur aik lakeer darmiyan mein is se bahar nikalta hua khenchi, aur is darmiyani lakeer ke baghal mein chand chhoti chhoti lakeeren aur khenchi, phir farmaya: “Yeh Ibn e Aadam hai aur yeh lakeer is ki mout ki hai jo har taraf se ise ghere hue hai. Aur yeh darmiyani wali lakeer insaan hai (yani is ki aarzooein hain) aur yeh chhoti chhoti lakeeren insaan ko pesh aane wale hawadis hain, agar aik hadsa se woh bach nikla to doosra ise dis le ga aur bahar nikalne wala khat is ki umeed hai.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي يَعْلَى، عَنْ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: خَطَّ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَطًّا مُرَبَّعًا، وَخَطَّ فِي وَسَطِ الْخَطِّ خَطًّا، وَخَطَّ خَارِجًا مِنَ الْخَطِّ خَطًّا، وَحَوْلَ الَّذِي فِي الْوَسَطِ خُطُوطًا، فَقَالَ: هَذَا ابْنُ آدَمَ، وَهَذَا أَجَلُهُ مُحِيطٌ بِهِ، وَهَذَا الَّذِي فِي الْوَسَطِ الْإِنْسَانُ، وَهَذِهِ الْخُطُوطُ عُرُوضُهُ إِنْ نَجَا مِنْ هَذَا يَنْهَشُهُ هَذَا، وَالْخَطُّ الْخَارِجُ الْأَمَلُ ، هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ.
