Jubair bin Mutim reported: People made a mention of washing because of sexual defilement before the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: I pour (water) on my head three times. And he made a sign with both his hands.

جبیر بن مطعم رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ لوگوں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کے پاس غسل جنابت کا ذکر کیا تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: میں تو تین چلو اپنے سر پر ڈالتا ہوں ، پھر آپ ﷺ نے اپنے دونوں ہاتھوں سے چلو بنا کر اشارہ کیا۔
Jabir bin Mut'im (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se riwayat hai ke logon ne Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pas ghusl junabat ka zikr kiya to aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: main to teen chaloo apne sar par dalta hoon, phir aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne apne dono hathon se chaloo bana kar ishara kiya.
Aishah reported: when the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم wanted to wash himself because of sexual defilement, he called for a vessel like HILAB (a vessel used for milking the camel). He then took a handful of water and began to pour it on the right side of his head and then on the left side. He then took water in both his hands together and poured it on his head.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ جب غسل جنابت کرتے تو ایک برتن منگواتے جیسے دودھ دوہنے کا برتن ہوتا ہے، پھر اپنے دونوں ہاتھ سے پانی لے کر سر کی داہنی جانب ڈالتے، پھر بائیں جانب ڈالتے، پھر دونوں ہاتھوں سے پانی لے کر ( بیچ ) سر پر ڈالتے۔
Am-ul-Momineen Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) Kehti Hain Ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Jab Ghusl-e-Janabat Karte To Ek Bartan Mangwate Jaise Doodh Dohne Ka Bartan Hota Hai, Phir Apne Donon Haathon Se Pani Le Kar Sar Ki Dahni Janib Daltte, Phir Bayen Janib Daltte, Phir Donon Haathon Se Pani Le Kar ( Beech ) Sar Par Daltte.
Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: Jumay ibn Umayr, one of the sons of Banu Taym Allah ibn Thalabah, said: Accompanied by my mother and aunt I entered upon Aishah. One of them asked her: How did you do while taking a bath? Aishah replied: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم performed ablution (in the beginning) as he did for prayer. He then poured (water) upon his head three times. But we poured water upon our heads five times due to plaits.

قبیلہ بنو تیم اللہ بن ثعلبہ کے ایک شخص جمیع بن عمیر کہتے ہیں میں اپنی والدہ اور خالہ کے ساتھ ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے پاس آیا، تو ان میں سے ایک نے آپ سے پوچھا: آپ لوگ غسل جنابت کس طرح کرتی تھیں؟ ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا: رسول اللہ ﷺ ( پہلے ) وضو کرتے تھے جیسے نماز کے لیے وضو کرتے ہیں، پھر اپنے سر پر تین بار پانی ڈالتے اور ہم اپنے سروں پر چوٹیوں کی وجہ سے پانچ بار پانی ڈالتے تھے۔

Ummul Momineen Aishah (رضي الله تعالى عنها) reported that when the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) would take a bath for Janabah; according to the version of Sulaiman, in the beginning he would pour water with his right hand (upon his left hand); and according to the version of Musaddad, he would wash both (hands) pouring water from the vessel upon his right hand. According to the agreed version, he then would wash the private part. He would then perform ablution as he did for prayer, then put his hands in the vessel and made the water go through his hair. When he knew that water had reached the entire surface of the body and cleaned it well, he would pour water upon his head three times. If some water was left, he would pour it also upon himself.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ جب غسل جنابت کرتے ( سلیمان کی روایت میں ہے: تو آپ ﷺ پہلے اپنے داہنے ہاتھ سے بائیں ہاتھ پر پانی ڈالتے، اور مسدد کی روایت میں ہے: برتن کو اپنے داہنے ہاتھ پر انڈیل کر دونوں ہاتھ دھوتے، پھر دونوں سیاق حدیث کے ذکر میں متفق ہیں کہ ) تو آپ ﷺ ( اس کے بعد ) اپنی شرمگاہ دھوتے ( اور مسدد کی روایت میں ہے: آپ ﷺ اپنے بائیں ہاتھ پر پانی بہاتے، کبھی ام المؤمنین عائشہ نے فرج ( شرمگاہ ) کو کنایۃً بیان کیا ہے ) پھر آپ ﷺ نماز کے وضو کی طرح وضو کرتے، پھر اپنے دونوں ہاتھ برتن میں داخل کرتے اور ( پانی لے کر ) اپنے بالوں کا خلال کرتے، یہاں تک کہ جب آپ ﷺ یہ جان لیتے کہ پانی پوری کھال کو پہنچ گیا ہے یا کھال کو صاف کر لیا ہے، تو اپنے سر پر تین بار پانی ڈالتے، پھر جو پانی بچ جاتا اسے اپنے اوپر بہا لیتے۔
Am al-Momineen Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) kehti hain ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab ghusl junabat karte ( Sulaiman ki riwayat mein hai: to aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) pehle apne daayen hath se bayen hath par pani dalte, aur Musaddid ki riwayat mein hai: bartan ko apne daayen hath par indel kar dono hath dhoute, phir dono siyaq hadees ke zikr mein mutfaq hain ke) to aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ( is ke bad ) apni sharamgah dhoute ( aur Musaddid ki riwayat mein hai: aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) apne bayen hath par pani behate, kabhi Am al-Momineen Ayesha ne farj ( sharamgah ) ko knayatan bayan kiya hai ) phir aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) namaz ke wazu ki tarah wazu karte, phir apne dono hath bartan mein daal te aur ( pani le kar ) apne balon ka khalaal karte, yehan tak ke jab aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ye jaan lete ke pani puri khale ko pahunch gaya hai ya khale ko saf kar liya hai, to apne sar par teen bar pani dalte, phir jo pani bach jata usse apne ooper behat lete.
Aishah said; When the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم intended to take a bath because of sexual defilement, he would begin with his hands and wash them. Then he would wash the joints of his limbs and pour water upon him when he cleansed both his (hands), he would rub them on the wall (to make them perfectly clean with the dust). Then he would perform ablution and pour water over his head.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ جب غسل جنابت کا ارادہ کرتے تو پہلے اپنے دونوں پہونچوں کو، پھر اپنے جوڑوں کو دھوتے ( مثلاً کہنی بغل وغیرہ جہاں میل جم جاتا ہے ) اور ان پر پانی بہاتے، جب دونوں ہاتھ صاف ہو جاتے تو انہیں ( مٹی سے ) دیوار پر ملتے، ( تاکہ مکمل صاف ہو جائے ) پھر وضو شروع کرتے اور اپنے سر پر پانی ڈالتے۔
ummul momineen ayesha radiallahu anha kehti hain ke rasulallah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab ghusl janabat ka irada karte to pehle apne dono pahoonchon ko, phir apne jodon ko dhote ( masalan kehni baghl waghera jahan mail jam jata hai ) aur un par pani bahate, jab dono hath saf ho jate to unhen ( mitti se ) diwar par milte, ( taka mukammal saf ho jaye ) phir wazu shuru karte aur apne sar par pani dalte.
Ummul Momineen Aisha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) said, 'If you want I can certainly show you the marks of the hand of the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) on the wall where he took bath for Janabah.

شعبی کہتے ہیں کہ ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا کہ اگر تم چاہو تو میں تم کو رسول اللہ ﷺ کے ہاتھ کا نشان دیوار پر دکھاؤں جہاں آپ ﷺ غسل جنابت کیا کرتے تھے ( اور دیوار پر اپنا ہاتھ ملتے تھے ) ۔
Shua'bi kehte hain ke ummul momineen Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ne kaha ke agar tum chaho to main tum ko rasool allah salla allahu alaihi wa sallam ke hath ka nishan diwar par dikhau jahan aap salla allahu alaihi wa sallam ghusl janabat kia karte the ( aur diwar par apna hath milte the ) .
Maimunah reported: I placed (the vessel of) water for the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم to wash himself because of sexual intercourse. He lowered down the vessel and poured water on his right hand. He then washed it twice or thrice. He then poured water over his private parts and washed them with his left hand. Then he put it on the ground and wiped it. He then rinsed his mouth and snuffed up water, and washed his face and hands. He then poured water over his head and body. Then he moved aside and washed his feet. I handed him a garment, but he began to shake he moved aside and washed his feet. I handed him a garment, but he began to shake off water from his body. I mentioned it to Ibrahim. He said that they (companions) did not think there was any harm in using the garment (to wipe the water), but they disliked its use as a habit. Abu Dawud said: Musaddad said: I asked Abdullah bin Dawud whether they (the companions) disliked to make it a habit. He replied: it (the tradition) goes in a similar way and I found it in a similar way in this book of mine.

ام المؤمنین میمونہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں میں نے نبی اکرم ﷺ کے لیے غسل جنابت کا پانی رکھا، تاکہ آپ غسل کر لیں، آپ ﷺ نے برتن کو اپنے داہنے ہاتھ پر جھکایا اور اسے دوبار یا تین بار دھویا، پھر اپنی شرمگاہ پر پانی ڈالا، اور بائیں ہاتھ سے اسے دھویا، پھر اپنے ہاتھ کو زمین پر مارا اور اسے دھویا، پھر کلی کی اور ناک میں پانی ڈالا اور چہرہ اور دونوں ہاتھ دھوئے، پھر اپنے سر اور جسم پر پانی ڈالا، پھر کچھ ہٹ کر اپنے دونوں پاؤں دھوئے، میں نے بدن پونچھنے کے لیے رومال دیا، تو آپ ﷺ نے اسے نہیں لیا، اور پانی اپنے بدن سے جھاڑنے لگے۔ اعمش کہتے ہیں: میں نے اس کا ذکر ابراہیم سے کیا، تو انہوں نے کہا: رومال سے بدن پونچھنے میں لوگ کوئی حرج نہیں سمجھتے تھے، لیکن اسے عادت بنا لینا برا جانتے تھے۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: مسدد نے کہا: اس پر عبداللہ بن داود سے میں نے پوچھا «العادة» یا «للعادة» ؟ تو انہوں نے جواب دیا «للعادة» ہی صحیح ہے، لیکن میں نے اپنی کتاب میں اسی طرح پایا ہے۔

Sؓu’baؓؓ(رضي الله تعالى عنه)ؓreportedؓwؓenؓIbnؓ‘Abbasؓ(رضي الله تعالى عنه) took bath for janabah, he poured (water) over his left hand with his right hand seven times. Once he forgot how many times he had poured (water). Therefore he asked me : how many times did I pour (water)? I do not know. He said : may you miss your mother! What prevented you from remembering it? He then performed ablution as he did for prayer and poured water over his skin (body). He then said : this is how the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) purified (himself).

شعبہ کہتے ہیں کہ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما جب غسل جنابت کرتے تو اپنے داہنے ہاتھ سے بائیں ہاتھ پر سات مرتبہ پانی ڈالتے، پھر اپنی شرمگاہ دھوتے، ایک بار وہ بھول گئے کہ کتنی بار پانی ڈالا، تو آپ نے مجھ سے پوچھا کہ میں نے کتنی بار پانی ڈالا؟ میں نے جواب دیا: مجھے یاد نہیں ہے، آپ نے کہا: تیری ماں نہ ہو ۱؎ تمہیں یہ یاد رکھنے میں کون سی چیز مانع ہوئی؟ پھر آپ وضو کرتے جیسے نماز کے لیے وضو کرتے ہیں، پھر اپنے پورے جسم پر پانی بہاتے، پھر کہتے: اسی طرح رسول اللہ ﷺ طہارت حاصل کرتے تھے۔
Shuba kahte hain ke Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a jab ghusl-e-janabat karte to apne daahne hath se baayen hath par saat martaba pani dalte, phir apni sharamgah dhoute, ek bar woh bhool gaye ke kitni bar pani dala, to aap ne mujh se poocha ke maine kitni bar pani dala? Maine jawab diya: Mujhe yaad nahin hai, aap ne kaha: Teri maa nah ho 1log tumhein yeh yaad rakhne mein kon si cheez mane hoi? Phir aap wazu karte jese namaz ke liye wazu karte hain, phir apne pure jism par pani behate, phir kahte: Isi tarah Rasoolallah sallaAllahu alaihi wasallam tahaarat hasil karte the.
Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) : There were fifty prayers (obligatory in the beginning); and (in the beginning of Islam) washing seven times for Janabah (was obligatory); and washing the urine from the cloth seven times (was obligatory).
The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kept on praying to Allah until the number of prayers was reduced to five and washing because of sexual defilement was allowed only once and washing the urine from the clothe was also permitted only once.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں پہلے پچاس ( وقت کی ) نماز ( فرض ہوئی ) تھیں، اور غسل جنابت سات بار کرنے کا حکم تھا، اسی طرح پیشاب کپڑے میں لگ جائے تو سات بار دھونے کا حکم تھا، لیکن رسول اللہ ﷺ ( اپنی امت پر برابر اللہ تعالیٰ سے تخفیف کا ) سوال کرتے رہے، یہاں تک کہ نماز پانچ کر دی گئیں، جنابت کا غسل ایک بار رہ گیا، اور پیشاب کپڑے میں لگ جائے تو اسے بھی ایک بار دھونا رہ گیا۔
Abdullah bin Umar razi Allah unhuma kehte hain pehle pachas waqt ki namaz farz hui thi aur ghusl janabat saat bar karne ka hukum tha isi tarah peshab kapre mein lag jaye to saat bar dhone ka hukum tha lekin Rasul Allah apni ummat par barabar Allah taala se takhfeef ka sawal karte rahe yahan tak ki namaz panch kar di gayin janabat ka ghusl ek bar reh gaya aur peshab kapre mein lag jaye to use bhi ek bar dhona reh gaya
Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: There is sexual defilement under every hair; so wash the hair and cleanse the skin. Abu Dawud said: The tradition narrated by Harith bin Wajih is rejected (Munkar). He is weak (in transmission).

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ہر بال کے نیچے جنابت ہے، لہٰذا تم ( غسل کرتے وقت ) بالوں کو اچھی طرح دھوو، اور کھال کو خوب صاف کرو ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: حارث بن وجیہ کی حدیث منکر ہے، اور وہ ضعیف ہیں ۔
Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Rasool Allah salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam ne farmaya: Har baal ke neeche janaabat hai, lihaza tum (ghusl karte waqt) baalon ko acchi tarah dhooo, aur khaal ko khoob saaf karo. Abu Dawood kehte hain: Harith bin Wajih ki hadees munkir hai, aur woh zaeef hain
Hadhrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (رضي الله تعالى عنه) reported that the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said : If anyone who is sexual defiled leaves a spot equal to the breadth of a hair without washing, such and such an amount of Hell-fire will have to be suffered for it. Hadhrat Ali ( رضئهللا تعالی عنہ) said : On that account I treated my head (hair) as an enemy, meaning I cut my hair. He used to cut the hair (of his head).

علی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: جس شخص نے غسل جنابت میں ایک بال برابر جگہ دھوئے بغیر چھوڑ دی، تو اسے آگ کا ایسا ایسا عذاب ہو گا ۔ علی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں: اسی وجہ سے میں نے اپنے سر ( کے بالوں ) سے دشمنی کر رکھی ہے، اس جملے کو انہوں نے تین مرتبہ کہا، وہ اپنے بال کاٹ ڈالتے تھے۔
Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Jis shakhs ne ghusl junabat mein ek baal barabar jagah dhoye baghair chhod di, to use aag ka aisa aisa azab hoga.
