Sunan Abi Dawud 1076
Abdullah bin Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that Umar bin al-Khattab (رضي الله تعالى عنه) saw a silken suit sold at the gate of the Mosque. He said : Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) would that you purchase this suit and wear it on Friday and on the occasion when a delegation (from the outside) comes to you. The Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said : One who has no share in the afterlife will put on this (suit). Afterwards suits of similar nature were brought to the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). He gave Umar bin Al-Khattab (رضي الله تعالى عنه) one of these suits. Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said : Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), you are giving it to me for use while you had told me such-and-such about the suit of ‘Utarid (sold by ‘Utarid sold outside the mosque). The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said : I did not give it to you that you should wear it. Hence Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) gave it to his brother who was a disbeliever at Makka for wearing.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے مسجد کے دروازے کے پاس ایک ریشمی جوڑا بکتے ہوئے دیکھا تو انہوں نے آپ ﷺ سے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! کاش! آپ اس کو خرید لیں اور جمعہ کے دن اور جس دن آپ کے پاس باہر کے وفود آئیں، اسے پہنا کریں، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: اسے تو صرف وہی پہنے گا جس کا آخرت میں کوئی حصہ نہیں ہے ، پھر رسول اللہ ﷺ کے پاس اسی قسم کے کچھ جوڑے آئے تو آپ نے ان میں سے ایک جوڑا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو دیا تو عمر نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ نے یہ کپڑا مجھے پہننے کو دیا ہے؟ حالانکہ عطارد کے جوڑے کے سلسلہ میں آپ ایسا ایسا کہہ چکے ہیں؟ تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: میں نے تمہیں یہ جوڑا اس لیے نہیں دیا ہے کہ اسے تم پہنو ، چنانچہ عمر نے اسے اپنے ایک مشرک بھائی کو جو مکہ میں رہتا تھا پہننے کے لیے دے دیا۔
Abdul'Allah bin Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a kahte hain ke Umar bin Khatab (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne masjid ke darwaze ke pas ek reshmi jora bikte hue dekha to unhon ne aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se arz kiya: Allah ke Rasool! Kash! Aap is ko kharid lein aur jum'a ke din aur jis din aap ke pas bahar ke wufud aayen, isse pehna karein, Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Isse to sirf wahi pehne ga jis ka akhirat mein koi hissa nahi hai, phir Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pas isi qism ke kuch jore aaye to aap ne in mein se ek jora Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko diya to Umar ne arz kiya: Allah ke Rasool! Aap ne yeh kapra mujhe pehnne ko diya hai? Halanki atard ke jore ke silsila mein aap aisa aisa keh chukhe hain? To aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Main ne tumhen yeh jora is liye nahi diya hai ke isse tum pehno, chananche Umar ne isse apne ek mushrik bhai ko jo Makka mein rehta tha pehnne ke liye de diya.
حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَأَى حُلَّةً سِيَرَاءَ، يَعْنِي: تُبَاعُ عِنْدَ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، لَوِ اشْتَرَيْتَ هَذِهِ فَلَبِسْتَهَا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَلِلْوَفْدِ إِذَا قَدِمُوا عَلَيْكَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ هَذِهِ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْهَا حُلَلٌ، فَأَعْطَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ مِنْهَا حُلَّةً، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: كَسَوْتَنِيهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، وَقَدْ قُلْتَ فِي حُلَّةِ عُطَارِدَ مَا قُلْتَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنِّي لَمْ أَكْسُكَهَا لِتَلْبَسَهَا فَكَسَاهَا عُمَرُ أَخًا لَهُ مُشْرِكًا بِمَكَّةَ.
