The tradition mentioned above has also been narrated by Al Zuhri through a different chain of narrators to the same effect. This version adds ‘at that time he was hinting at disowning the child.’

اس سند سے بھی زہری سے اسی مفہوم کی حدیث مروی ہے لیکن اس میں یہ ہے کہ یہ کہہ کر اس کا مقصد اپنے سے بچہ کی نفی کرنی تھی۔

is sind se bhi zehri se asi mafhūm ki ḥadīth marwi hai lekin is mein yeh hai ke yeh kehh kar is ka maqsad apne se bacha ki nafi karni thi.

حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏بِإِسْنَادِهِ وَمَعْنَاهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ حِينَئِذٍ يُعَرِّضُ بِأَنْ يَنْفِيَهُ.
