Sunan Abi Dawud 2320
Abdullah ibn Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, the month consists of twenty-nine days, but do not fast till you sight it (the moon) and do not break your fast till you sight it. If the weather is cloudy, calculate it thirty days. When the twenty-ninth of Sha'ban came, Ibn Umar would send someone (who tried) to sight the moon for him. If it were sighted, then well and good; in case it was not sighted, and there was no cloud and dust before him (on the horizon), he would not keep fast the next day. If there appeared (on the horizon) before him cloud of dust, he would fast the following day. Ibn Umar ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) would end his fasting alone with the people, and did not follow this calculation.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: مہینہ انتیس دن کا ( بھی ) ہوتا ہے لہٰذا چاند دیکھے بغیر نہ روزہ رکھو، اور نہ ہی دیکھے بغیر روزے چھوڑو، اگر آسمان پر بادل ہوں تو تیس دن پورے کرو ۔ راوی کا بیان ہے کہ جب شعبان کی انتیس تاریخ ہوتی تو ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما چاند دیکھتے اگر نظر آ جاتا تو ٹھیک اور اگر نظر نہ آتا اور بادل اور کوئی سیاہ ٹکڑا اس کے دیکھنے کی جگہ میں حائل نہ ہوتا تو دوسرے دن روزہ نہ رکھتے اور اگر بادل یا کوئی سیاہ ٹکڑا دیکھنے کی جگہ میں حائل ہو جاتا تو صائم ہو کر صبح کرتے۔ راوی کا یہ بھی بیان ہے کہ ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما لوگوں کے ساتھ ہی روزے رکھنا چھوڑتے تھے، اور اپنے حساب کا خیال نہیں کرتے تھے۔
Abdul-Allah bin Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a kehte hain ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Mahina untis din ka ( bhi ) hota hai lihaza Chand dekhe baghair nah roza rakho, aur nah hi dekhe baghair roze chhodo, agar aasman par baadal hon to tees din pure karo. Ravi ka bayan hai ke jab Shaban ki untis tarikh hoti to Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a Chand dekhte agar nazar aa jata to thik aur agar nazar nah aata aur baadal aur koi siyah tukra is ke dekhne ki jagah mein hail nah hota to doosre din roza nah rakhte aur agar baadal ya koi siyah tukra dekhne ki jagah mein hail ho jata to Saim ho kar subah karte. Ravi ka yeh bhi bayan hai ke Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a logoon ke sath hi roze rakhna chhoorte the, aur apne hisab ka khyal nahin karte the.
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْعَتَكِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: الشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ، فَلَا تَصُومُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْهُ، وَلَا تُفْطِرُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْهُ، فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَاقْدُرُوا لَهُ ثَلَاثِينَ . قَالَ: فَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ إِذَا كَانَ شَعْبَانُ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ نُظِرَ لَهُ، فَإِنْ رُؤِيَ فَذَاكَ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يُرَ وَلَمْ يَحُلْ دُونَ مَنْظَرِهِ سَحَابٌ وَلَا قَتَرَةٌ أَصْبَحَ مُفْطِرًا، فَإِنْ حَالَ دُونَ مَنْظَرِهِ سَحَابٌ أَوْ قَتَرَةٌ أَصْبَحَ صَائِمًا، قَالَ: فَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يُفْطِرُ مَعَ النَّاسِ وَلَا يَأْخُذُ بِهَذَا الْحِسَابِ.
