Sunan Abi Dawud 4641
Awf (Ibn Jamila Eiraabi) narrated that he heard al-Hajjaj (the tyrant) addressing the people said, the similitude of Uthman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) with Allah is like the similitude of Isa Ibn Maryam (عليه السالم). He then recited the following verse and explained it – [When Allah said : "O' Isa ( عليهالسالم), I will take (raise) you towards Me (and you will be kept alive to complete your age on Earth) and will exalt you, and rid you of the infidels, and keep those who follow you above those who disbelieve till the Day of Resurrection..] (Aal-i-Imran – 55). He was making a sign with his hand to us and to the people of Syria.

عوف الا عرابی کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے حجاج کو خطبہ میں یہ کہتے سنا: عثمان کی مثال اللہ کے نزدیک عیسیٰ بن مریم کی طرح ہے، پھر انہوں نے آیت کریمہ «إذ قال الله يا عيسى إني متوفيك ورافعك إلى ومطهرك من الذين كفروا» جب اللہ نے کہا کہ: اے عیسیٰ! میں تجھے پورا لینے والا ہوں، اور تجھے اپنی جانب اٹھانے والا ہوں، اور تجھے کافروں سے پاک کرنے والا ہوں ( سورۃ آل عمران: ۵۵ ) پڑھی اور اپنے ہاتھ سے ہماری اور اہل شام کی طرف اشارہ کر رہے تھے ۔
Aouf ala Arabi kehte hain ke mein ne Hajjaj ko khutba mein yeh kehte suna: Usman ki misal Allah ke nazdeek Isa bin Maryam ki tarah hai, phir unhon ne aayat kareema «إذ قال الله يا عيسى إني متوفيك ورافعك إلى ومطهرك من الذين كفروا» jab Allah ne kaha ke: Aey Isa! Main tujhe poora lene wala hoon, aur tujhe apni janib uthane wala hoon, aur tujhe kafroon se pak karne wala hoon ( Soorat-e-Al-Imran: 55 ) parhi aur apne hath se hamari aur Ahl-e-Sham ki taraf ishara kar rahe the 1؎.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ظَفَرٍ عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ، عَنْ عَوْفٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْحَجَّاجَ يَخْطُبُ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ مَثَلَ عُثْمَانَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ عِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ يَقْرَؤُهَا وَيُفَسِّرُهَا: إِذْ قَالَ اللَّهُ يَا عِيسَى إِنِّي مُتَوَفِّيكَ وَرَافِعُكَ إِلَيَّ وَمُطَهِّرُكَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا سورة آل عمران آية 55، يُشِيرُ إِلَيْنَا بِيَدِهِ وَإِلَى أَهْلِ الشَّامِ .
