Sunan Abi Dawud 956
Abdullah bin Shaqiq said : I asked Ummul Momineen Aisha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) whether the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) recited a whole Surah (of the Quran) in one Rak’a of the prayer. She replied : (He recited from among) the Mufassal suras. I asked : Did he pray (at night) sitting? She replied : (he prayed sitting) when the people made him old.

عبداللہ بن شقیق کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے پوچھا: کیا رسول اللہ ﷺ پوری سورت ایک رکعت میں پڑھتے تھے؟ انہوں نے کہا: ( ہاں ) مفصل کی، پھر میں نے پوچھا: کیا آپ بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھتے تھے؟ انہوں نے کہا: جس وقت لوگوں ( کے کثرت معاملات ) نے آپ ﷺ کو شکستہ ( یعنی بوڑھا ) کر دیا۔
Abdul-Allah bin Shuqeeq kehte hain ke main ne Um-ul-Momineen Aisha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) se poochha: kya Rasool-Allah sal-la Allahu alaihi wa sallam poori surat ek rakat mein padhte the? unhon ne kaha: (haan) mufassal ki, phir main ne poochha: kya aap baith kar namaz padhte the? unhon ne kaha: jis waqt logon (ke kasrat mamlaat) ne aap sal-la Allahu alaihi wa sallam ko shikasta (yani boodha) kar diya.
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، حَدَّثَنَا كَهْمَسُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ السُّورَةَ فِي رَكْعَةٍ ؟ قَالَتْ: الْمُفَصَّلَ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: فَكَانَ يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا ؟ قَالَتْ: حِينَ حَطَمَهُ النَّاسُ .
