Chapter: A man striking his hand on his thigh when he is amazed or for some other reason

بَابُ ضَرْبِ الرَّجُلِ يَدَهُ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ عِنْدَ التَّعَجُّبِ أَوِ الشَّيْءِ

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 955

'Ali reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, knocked at the door of 'Ali and Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said, "Don't you pray?" 'Ali said, "I said, 'Messenger of Allah, our spirits are with Allah. When He wishes to wake us up, we will make up.' The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, left without saying anything to me. Then I heard him strike him thigh after his back was turned. He said, 'More than anything else, man is argumentative.' (18:54)"

سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی ﷺ رات کے وقت میرے اور سیدہ فاطمہ کے پاس آئے تو آپ نے فرمایا:’’تم (تہجد کی)نماز نہیں پڑھتے۔‘‘ میں نے کہا:اے اللہ کے رسول! ہماری جانیں تو صرف اللہ کے قبضے میں ہیں جب وہ چاہتا ہے ہمیں اٹھا دیتا ہے۔ نبی ﷺ واپس تشریف لے گئے اور مجھے کچھ نہ کہا۔ پھر میں نے سنا آپ واپس جاتے ہوئے ہاتھ ران پر مارتے ہوئے (یہ آیت تلاوت)فرما رہے تھے:اور آدمی سب سے بڑھ کر جھگڑالو ہے۔‘‘

Sayyidna Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se riwayat hai keh Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) raat ke waqt mere aur Sayyida Fatima ke paas aaye to aap ne farmaya: 'Tum (Tahajjud ki) namaz nahi parhte.' Main ne kaha: 'Aye Allah ke Rasool! Hamari jaanen to sirf Allah ke qabze mein hain jab woh chahta hai hamein utha deta hai.' Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) wapas tashreef le gaye aur mujhe kuchh na kaha. Phir main ne suna aap wapas jate huye haath ran par maarte huye (yeh ayat tilawat) farma rahe the: 'Aur aadmi sab se barh kar jhagraloo hai.'

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ، أَنَّ حُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم طَرَقَهُ وَفَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، فَقَالَ‏:‏ أَلاَ تُصَلُّونَ‏؟‏ فَقُلْتُ‏:‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّمَا أَنْفُسُنَا عِنْدَ اللهِ، فَإِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَبْعَثَنَا بَعَثَنَا، فَانْصَرَفَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، وَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ إِلَيَّ شَيْئًا، ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُ وَهُوَ مُدْبِرٌ يَضْرِبُ فَخِذَهُ يَقُولُ‏:‏ ‏{‏وَكَانَ الإِنْسَانُ أَكْثَرَ شَيْءٍ جَدَلاً‏}‏‏.‏

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 956

Abu Razin said about Abu Hurayra, "I saw him striking his brow with his hand whole saying, 'People of Iraq, do you claim that I lie against the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace? Do you have enjoyment while I have the wrong action? I testify that I heard the , Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, "When one of you breaks his sandal-strap, he should not walk in his other sandal until it is mended."'"

ابو رزین رحمہ اللہ سے روایت ہے کہ میں نے سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کو اپنی پیشانی پر ہاتھ مارتے ہوئے دیکھا اور وہ فرما رہے تھے:اے اہل عراق! کیا تم سمجھتے ہو کہ میں رسول اللہ پر جھوٹ باندھتا ہوں؟ کیا تمہارے لیے لذت اور راحت ہو اور مجھ پر گناہ ہو؟ میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ میں نے یقیناً رسول اللہ ﷺ کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا:’’جب تم میں سے کسی (کے جوتے)کا تسمہ ٹوٹ جائے تو وہ دوسرے (ایک)جوتے میں نہ چلے یہاں تک کہ اس کو درست کرلے۔‘‘

Abu Razin rehmatullah alaihe se riwayat hai ki maine Sayyidna Abu Hurairah razi Allah anhu ko apni peshani par hath marte hue dekha aur wo farma rahe the: Aye ahl Iraq! kya tum samajhte ho ki main Rasul Allah par jhoot bandhta hun? kya tumhare liye lazzat aur rahat ho aur mujh par gunah ho? main gawahi deta hun ki maine yaqinan Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko farmate hue suna: ''Jab tum mein se kisi (ke joote) ka tasma toot jaye to wo dusre (aik) joote mein na chale yahan tak ki us ko durust kar le.''.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلاَمٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ‏:‏ رَأَيْتُهُ يَضْرِبُ جَبْهَتَهُ بِيَدِهِ وَيَقُولُ‏:‏ يَا أَهْلَ الْعِرَاقِ، أَتَزْعُمُونَ أَنِّي أَكْذِبُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، أَيَكُونُ لَكُمُ الْمَهْنَأُ وَعَلَيَّ الْمَأْثَمُ‏؟‏ أَشْهَدُ لَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ‏:‏ إِذَا انْقَطَعَ شِسْعُ نَعْلِ أَحَدِكُمْ، فَلاَ يَمْشِي فِي نَعْلِهِ الأُخْرَى حَتَّى يُصْلِحَهُ‏.‏
