Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 861
Al-Aswad ibn Suray' said, "I was a poet and went to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and asked, 'Shall I recite some praises I have written for my Lord?' He said, 'Your Lord loves praise,' and did not say anything more."

سیدنا اسود بن سریع رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں شاعر تھا، چنانچہ میں نبی ﷺ کے پاس آیا تو میں نے کہا:کیا میں آپ کو شعر نہ سناؤں جن کے ساتھ میں نے اپنے رب کی حمد بیان کی ہے؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا:’’بلاشبہ تیرا رب تعریفوں کو پسند کرتا ہے۔‘‘ اس سے زیادہ آپ نے کچھ نہ فرمایا۔
Sayyidna Aswad bin Saree RA se riwayat hai, woh kehte hain ki mein shayar tha, chunancha mein Nabi SAW ke paas aaya to mein ne kaha: kya mein aap ko sher na sunaun jin ke sath mein ne apne Rab ki hamd bayan ki hai? Aap SAW ne farmaya: ''Bilashubha tera Rab tareefon ko pasand karta hai.'' Is se ziada aap ne kuch na farmaya.
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُبَارَكٌ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سَرِيعٍ قَالَ: كُنْتُ شَاعِرًا، فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقُلْتُ: أَلاَ أُنْشِدُكَ مَحَامِدَ حَمِدْتُ بِهَا رَبِّي؟ قَالَ: إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يُحِبُّ الْمَحَامِدَ، وَلَمْ يَزِدْنِي عَلَيْهِ.
