Hadith of a man from the Companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him

حَدِيثُ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 23486

It is narrated on the authority of a companion, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “If I had not feared hardship upon my Ummah (nation), I would have commanded them to use the Miswak (tooth stick) with every prayer.”

ایک صحابی رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا اگر مجھے اپنی امت پر مشقت کا خیال نہ ہوتا تو میں انہیں ہر نماز کے ساتھ مسواک کرنے کا حکم دیتا۔

aik sahabi razi allaho anho se marvi hai ke nabi kareem sallallaho alaihi wasallam ne farmaya agar mujhe apni ummat par mushqkat ka khayal na hota to main unhen har namaz ke sath miswak karne ka hukum deta.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْنَاهُ مِنَ الْأَعْمَشِ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبدُ اللَّهِ بنُ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ عَبدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بنِ أَبي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَاب النَّبيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، عَنِ النَّبيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَوْلَا أَشُقُّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي، لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ" .

Abu Qilaba said that in Medina, I saw a man surrounded by people, narrating Hadiths (sayings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ). One of the companions (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ say that after him, a misleading liar with curly hair at the back of his head will appear, claiming to be your Lord. Whoever hears him say this should declare, 'You are not our Lord, our Lord is Allah. In Him, we trust and to Him, we turn, seeking refuge in Allah from your evil.' Dajjal will not be able to harm him."

ابوقلابہ کہتے ہیں کہ مدینہ منورہ میں میں نے ایک آدمی کو دیکھا جسے لوگوں نے اپنے حلقے میں گھیر رکھا تھا اور وہ کہہ رہا تھا کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا (احادیث بیان کر رہا تھا) تو ایک صحابی رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ میں نے نبی کریم ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ تمہارے بعد ایک گمراہ کن کذاب آئے گا جس کے سر میں پیچھے سے راستے بنے ہوں گے اور وہ دعویٰ کرے گا کہ میں تمہارا رب ہوں سو جو شخص یہ کہہ دے کہ تو ہمارا رب نہیں ہے ہمارا رب تو اللہ ہے ہم اسی پر توکل کرتے اور رجوع کرتے ہیں اور ہم تیرے شر سے اللہ کی پناہ میں آتے ہیں تو دجال کو اس پر تسلط حاصل نہیں ہوگا۔

Abu Qilaba kehte hain ke Madina Munawwara mein maine ek aadmi ko dekha jise logon ne apne halqe mein gher rakha tha aur wo keh raha tha ke Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya (ahadees bayaan kar raha tha) to ek Sahabi (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne kaha ke maine Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ye farmate huye suna hai ke tumhare baad ek gumrah kun kazzab aayega jis ke sar mein peeche se raste bane honge aur wo daawa karega ke main tumhara Rabb hun so jo shakhs ye keh de ke tu hamara Rabb nahin hai hamara Rabb to Allah hai hum usi par tawakkal karte aur ruju karte hain aur hum tere shar se Allah ki panaah mein aate hain to Dajjal ko us par tasallut hasil nahin hoga.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوب ، عَنْ أَبي قِلَابةَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَاب النَّبيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، عَنِ النَّبيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِنَّ مِنْ بعْدِكُمْ أَوْ إِنَّ مِنْ وَرَائِكُمْ الْكَذَّاب الْمُضِلَّ، وَإِنَّ رَأْسَهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ حُبكٌ حُبكٌ، وَإِنَّهُ سَيَقُولُ: أَنَا رَبكُمْ، فَمَنْ قَالَ: كَذَبتَ لَسْتَ رَبنَا، وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ رَبنَا، وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا، وَإِلَيْهِ أَنَبنَا، وَنَعُوذُ باللَّهِ مِنْكَ، فَلَا سَبيلَ لَهُ عَلَيْهِ" .
