Ubaidullah bin Adi, a companion (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Ansar, narrated that he went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and secretly asked for permission to kill a hypocrite man. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked in a loud voice, "Doesn't he bear witness that there is no god but Allah?" He replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah! But he does not bear witness from his heart." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Doesn't he bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah! But he does not bear witness from his heart." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Doesn't he pray?" He replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah! But he does not pray from his heart." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Allah has forbidden me from killing such people."

حضرت عبیداللہ بن عدی ایک انصاری صحابی رضی اللہ عنہ سے نقل کرتے ہیں کہ وہ نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے اور سرگوشی میں نبی کریم ﷺ سے ایک منافق آدمی کو قتل کرنے کی اجازت مانگی نبی کریم ﷺ نے اونچی آواز سے پوچھا کیا وہ لا الہ الا اللہ کی گواہی نہیں دیتا؟ انہوں نے عرض کیا کیوں نہیں یا رسول اللہ! لیکن وہ دل سے گواہی نہیں دیتا نبی کریم ﷺ نے پوچھا کیا وہ اس بات کی گواہی نہیں دیتا کہ محمد ﷺ اللہ کے رسول ہیں؟ انہوں نے عرض کیا کیوں نہیں یا رسول اللہ! لیکن وہ دل سے گواہی نہیں دیتا نبی کریم ﷺ نے پوچھا کیا وہ نماز نہیں پڑھتا؟ انہوں نے عرض کیا کیوں نہیں یا رسول اللہ! لیکن وہ دل سے نماز نہیں پڑھتا نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا اللہ نے مجھے ان لوگوں کو قتل کرنے سے منع فرمایا ہے۔
Hazrat Ubaidullah bin Adi aik Ansaari Sahabi Radi Allaho Anho se naqal karte hain ke woh Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ki khidmat mein hazir hue aur sargosi mein Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam se aik munafiq aadmi ko qatal karne ki ijazat mangi Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne unchi aawaz se poocha kya woh La Ilaha Illallah ki gawahi nahi deta? Unhon ne arz kiya kyun nahi Ya Rasulullah! Lekin woh dil se gawahi nahi deta Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne poocha kya woh is baat ki gawahi nahi deta ke Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam Allah ke Rasool hain? Unhon ne arz kiya kyun nahi Ya Rasulullah! Lekin woh dil se gawahi nahi deta Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne poocha kya woh namaz nahi parhta? Unhon ne arz kiya kyun nahi Ya Rasulullah! Lekin woh dil se namaz nahi parhta Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne farmaya Allah ne mujhe in logon ko qatal karne se mana farmaya hai.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ الْخِيَارِ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ حَدَّثَهُ: أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ فِي مَجْلِسٍ، فَسَارَّهُ يَسْتَأْذِنُهُ فِي قَتْلِ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْمُنَافِقِينَ، فَجَهَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: " أَلَيْسَ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ؟" قَالَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، وَلَا شَهَادَةَ لَهُ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" أَلَيْسَ يَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ؟" قَالَ: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، وَلَا شَهَادَةَ لَهُ، قال:" أَلَيْسَ يُصَلِّي؟" قَالَ: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، وَلَا صَلَاةَ لَهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ نَهَانِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ"
