Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 10172
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The best charity is that which leaves some wealth remaining (i.e., one should not give all one’s wealth in charity). The upper hand is better than the lower hand, and start giving charity to those for whom you are responsible.”

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا سب سے افضل صدقہ وہ ہے جو کچھ نہ کچھ مالداری چھوڑ دے (سارا مال خرچ نہ کرے) اوپر والا ہاتھ نیچے والے ہاتھ سے بہتر ہوتا ہے اور تم صدقہ کرنے میں ان لوگوں سے ابتداء کرو جو تمہاری ذمہ داری میں آتے ہیں۔
Hazrat Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya sab se afzal sadqa woh hai jo kuch na kuch maldari chhor de (sara maal kharch na kare) upar wala hath neeche wale hath se behtar hota hai aur tum sadqa karne mein in logon se ibtida karo jo tumhari zimmedari mein aate hain.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , قََالَ: قََالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " خَيْرُ الصَّدَقَةِ مَا كَانَ عَنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًى، وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى، وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ" .
