Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11015
It is narrated by Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were waiting for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for the Isha prayer, and a third of the night passed while we waited. Finally, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived and led us in prayer. Then he said, "Remain in your places." The people had gone to their beds, but he said, "From the time you were waiting for prayer, you have been counted as being in prayer. Were it not for the weakness of the weak, the illness of the sick, and the needs of the needy, I would have delayed this prayer until a portion of the night had passed."

حضرت ابوسعید رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ ہم لوگ نماز عشاء کے لئے نبی ﷺ کا انتظار کر رہے تھے، انتظار کرتے کرتے رات کا ایک تہائی حصہ بیت گیا، بالآخر نبی ﷺ تشریف لائے اور ہمیں نماز پڑھائی، پھر فرمایا اپنی اپنی جگہ پر ہی بیٹھو، لوگ اپنے اپنے بستروں میں جاچکے، لیکن تم جب سے نماز کا انتظار کر رہے ہو، تم برابر نماز میں ہی شمار ہوئے، اگر ضعفاء کی کمزوری، بیماروں کی بیماری اور ضرورت مندوں کی ضرورت کا مسئلہ نہ ہوتا تو میں یہ نماز رات کے ایک حصہ تک مؤخر کردیتا۔
Hazrat Abusaid (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek martaba hum log namaz Isha ke liye Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka intezar kar rahe thay, intezar karte karte raat ka ek tihai hissa beet gaya, balkhair Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) tashreef laaye aur hamen namaz parhaee, phir farmaya apni apni jagah par hi baitho, log apne apne bistaron mein ja chuke, lekin tum jab se namaz ka intezar kar rahe ho, tum barabar namaz mein hi shumaar huye, agar zaeefah ki kamzori, beemaron ki bimari aur zaroorat mandon ki zaroorat ka masla na hota to main yeh namaz raat ke ek hissa tak moakhir karta.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ: انْتَظَرْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةً صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ، حَتَّى ذَهَبَ نَحْوٌ مِنْ شَطْرِ اللَّيْلِ، قَالَ: فَجَاءَ فَصَلَّى بِنَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ:" خُذُوا مَقَاعِدَكُمْ، فَإِنَّ النَّاسَ قَدْ أَخَذُوا مَضَاجِعَهُمْ، وَإِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَزَالُوا فِي صَلَاةٍ مُنْذُ انْتَظَرْتُمُوهَا، وَلَوْلَا ضَعْفُ الضَّعِيفِ وَسَقَمُ السَّقِيمِ، وَحَاجَةُ ذِي الْحَاجَةِ، لَأَخَّرْتُ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ إِلَى شَطْرِ اللَّيْلِ".
