Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11137
'Abdul Rahman bin Abi 'Umrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once Abu Sa'eed (may Allah be pleased with him) was informed of a funeral. When he arrived, the people were already settled in their places. Seeing him, the people started to give him space, and some even stood up from their places so that he could sit there. But he said, "No. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say that the best gathering is the one with the most space." Then he went and sat in an open space in another corner.

حضرت عبدالرحمن بن ابی عمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ حضرت ابوسعید رضی اللہ عنہ کو کسی جنازے کی اطلاع دی گئی، جب وہ آئے تو لوگ اپنی اپنی جگہوں پر جم چکے تھے، انہیں دیکھ کر لوگوں نے اپنی جگہ سے ہٹنا شروع کردیا اور کچھ لوگ اپنی جگہ سے کھڑے ہوگئے تاکہ وہ ان کی جگہ پر بیٹھ جائیں، لیکن انہوں نے فرمایا نہیں، میں نے نبی ﷺ کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ بہترین مجلس وہ ہوتی ہے جو زیادہ کشادہ ہو، پھر دوسرے کونے میں کشادہ جگہ پر جا کر بیٹھ گئے۔
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Umrah razi Allah anhu kehte hain ki ek martaba Hazrat Abu Saeed razi Allah anhu ko kisi janaze ki ittila di gai, jab wo aaye to log apni apni jagahon per jam chuke the, unhen dekh kar logon ne apni jagah se hatna shuru kar diya aur kuch log apni jagah se khade hogaye taake wo unki jagah per baith jayen, lekin unhon ne farmaya nahin, maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko farmate huye suna hai ki behtarin majlis wo hoti hai jo zyada kushada ho, phir dusre kone mein kushada jagah per ja kar baith gaye.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الْمَوَالِي ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، قَالَ: أُخْبِرَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ بِجِنَازَةٍ، فَعَادَ تَخَلَّفَ، حَتَّى إِذَا أَخَذَ النَّاسُ مَجَالِسَهُمْ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ الْقَوْمُ تَشَذَّبُوا عَنْهُ فَقَامَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِيَجْلِسَ فِي مَجْلِسِهِ، فَقَالَ: لَا، إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:" إِنَّ خَيْرَ الْمَجَالِسِ أَوْسَعُهَا، ثُمَّ تَنَحَّى وَجَلَسَ فِي مَجْلِسٍ وَاسِعٍ".
