Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1126
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, allowed wiping over the socks for three days and three nights for a traveler, and for a resident, one day and one night.

سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے مسافر کے لئے تین دن اور تین رات، اور مقیم کے لئے ایک دن اور ایک رات مسح کی اجازت دی ہے۔
Sayyiduna Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne musafir ke liye teen din aur teen raat, aur muqeem ke liye ek din aur ek raat masah ki ijazat di hai.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ . ح وَعَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُخَيْمِرَةَ ، عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" لِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيَهُنَّ، وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً".
