Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11292
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were lagging behind. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Come forward and follow me in prayer, and those who come after you will follow you. People will continue to lag behind until Allah makes them lag behind on the Day of Resurrection.”

حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہ کو دیکھا کہ وہ کچھ پیچھے ہیں تو نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا تم آگے بڑھ کر میری اقتداء کیا کرو، بعد والے تمہاری اقتداء کریں گے، کیوں کہ لوگ مسلسل پیچھے ہوتے رہیں گے یہاں تک کہ اللہ انہیں قیامت کے دن پیچھے کردے گا۔
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne sahaba raziallahu anhum ko dekha ki woh kuch peeche hain to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya tum aage badh kar meri iqtida kiya karo, baad wale tumhari iqtida karenge, kyunki log musalsal peeche hote rahenge yahan tak ki Allah unhen qayamat ke din peeche karde ga.
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْأَشْهَبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ: رَأَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ تَأَخُّرًا، فَقَالَ:" تَقَدَّمُوا فَأْتَمُّوا بِي، وَلْيَأْتَمَّ بِكُمْ مَنْ بَعْدَكُمْ، لَا يَزَالُ قَوْمٌ يَتَأَخَّرُونَ حَتَّى يُؤَخِّرَهُمْ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ".
