Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11580
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) observed I'tikaf in the middle ten days of Ramadan. We also observed I'tikaf with him. When the morning of the twentieth dawned, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by us while we were moving our belongings. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Whoever was in I'tikaf should remain in his I'tikaf. I had sighted the Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr), but then its determination was made to be forgotten by me. However, I saw myself prostrating in mud that night." At that time, the roof of the Prophet's Mosque was made of wood. It rained that night, and I saw the marks of mud on the nose and forehead of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

حضرت ابوسعید رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے رمضان کے درمیانی عشرے کا اعتکاف فرمایا: ہم نے بھی آپ ﷺ کے ساتھ اعتکاف کیا، جب بیسویں تاریخ کی صبح ہوئی تو نبی ﷺ ہمارے پاس سے گذرے، ہم اس وقت اپنا سامان منتقل کر رہے تھے، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا جو شخص معتکف تھا، وہ اب بھی اپنے اعتکاف میں رہے، میں نے شب قدر کو دیکھ لیا تھا لیکن پھر مجھے اس کی تعیین بھلا دی گئی، البتہ اس رات میں نے اپنے آپ کو کیچڑ میں سجدہ کرتے ہوئے دیکھا تھا، اس زمانے میں مسجد نبوی کی چھت لکڑی کی تھی، اسی رات بارش ہوئی اور میں نے دیکھا کہ نبی ﷺ کی ناک اور پیشانی پر کیچڑ کے نشان پڑگئے ہیں۔
Hazrat Abu Saeed Razi Allah Anhu se marvi hai keh aik martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Ramzan ke darmiyani ashray ka etikaf farmaya: hum ne bhi aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke sath etikaf kiya, jab beeswein tarikh ki subah hui to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) humare paas se guzre, hum us waqt apna saman muntaqil kar rahe the, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya jo shakhs mutakif tha, woh ab bhi apne etikaf mein rahe, mein ne Shab e Qadr ko dekh liya tha lekin phir mujhe us ki tayyin bhula di gai, albatta us raat mein ne apne aap ko keechad mein sajda karte huye dekha tha, is zamane mein Masjid e Nabvi ki chhat lakdi ki thi, usi raat baarish hui aur mein ne dekha keh Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki nak aur peshani par keechad ke nishan par gaye hain.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ: تَذَاكَرْنَا لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فِي نَفَرٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ، فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ، وَكَانَ صَدِيقًا لِي، فَقُلْتُ: اخْرُجْ بِنَا إِلَى النَّخْلِ، فَخَرَجَ وَعَلَيْهِ خَمِيصَةٌ لَهُ، فَقُلْتُ: سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَذْكُرُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، اعْتَكَفْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعَشْرَ الْوَسَطَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ، فَخَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَبِيحَةَ عِشْرِينَ، فَقَالَ:" أُرِيتُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فَأُنْسِيتُهَا، أَوْ قَالَ فَنَسِيتُهَا، فَالْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ فِي الْوَتْرِ، فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ أَنِّي أَسْجُدُ فِي مَاءٍ وَطِينٍ، فَمَنْ كَانَ اعْتَكَفَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلْيَرْجِعْ"، فَرَجَعْنَا وَمَا نَرَى فِي السَّمَاءِ قَزَعَةً، فَجَاءَتْ سَحَابَةٌ فَمُطِرْنَا، حَتَّى سَالَ سَقْفُ الْمَسْجِدِ، وَكَانَ مِنْ جَرِيدِ النَّخْلِ، وَأُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ، وَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْجُدُ فِي الْمَاءِ وَالطِّينِ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ أَثَرَ الطِّينِ فِي جَبْهَتِهِ.
