Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11634
It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked in the court of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! There is an abundance of dung beetles in our area, what do you command us regarding this?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "It has been mentioned to me that a group among the Children of Israel was transformed, I do not know what animal it was, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) neither commanded to eat it nor forbade it."

حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک آدمی نے بارگاہ نبوت میں یہ سوال عرض کیا کہ یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! ہمارے علاقے میں گوہ کی بڑی کثرت ہوتی ہے، اس سلسلے میں آپ ہمیں کیا حکم دیتے ہیں؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا کہ میرے سامنے یہ بات ذکر کی گئی ہے کہ بنی اسرائیل میں ایک جماعت کو مسخ کردیا گیا تھا، مجھے معلوم نہیں کہ وہ کون سا جانور ہے اور نبی ﷺ نے اسے کھانے کا حکم دیا اور نہ ہی منع کیا۔
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai ke aik aadmi ne bargah e nabuat mein ye sawal arz kiya ke Ya Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) humare ilaqe mein goh ki bari kasrat hoti hai is silsile mein aap hamein kya hukum dete hain Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya ke mere samne ye baat zikar ki gayi hai ke Bani Israel mein ek jamaat ko masakh kar diya gaya tha mujhe maloom nahi ke wo kon sa janwar hai aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne isay khanay ka hukum diya aur na hi mana kiya.
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا دَاوُدُ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّا بِأَرْضٍ مَضَبَّةٍ، فَمَا تَأْمُرُنَا؟ قَالَ:" بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ أُمَّةً مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مُسِخَتْ دَوَابَّ، فَلَا أَدْرِي أَيُّ الدَّوَابِّ هِيَ؟". قَالَ: فَلَمْ يَأْمُرْ، وَلَمْ يَنْهَ.
