The Musnad of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him)
مسنَد اَبِی سَعِید الخدرِیِّ رَضِیَ اللَّه تَعَالَى عَنه
Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11775
Narrated by Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): Once, we were sitting, waiting for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to come out from the house of one of his wives. When he came out, we accompanied him. On the way, the Prophet's sandal broke. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) stopped to fix it while the Prophet continued walking, and we followed him. Upon reaching a certain place, the Prophet stopped and waited for Ali. We also stopped. In the meantime, the Prophet said, "Amongst you there will be a man who will fight for the interpretation and explanation of the Quran just as I have fought for its revelation." Hearing this, we began to look around curiously. Amongst us were Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). The Prophet then said, "It is the one who is mending the sandal." We went to give this good news to Ali, and it seemed as if he had already been informed about it.

حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ ہم لوگ بیٹھے ہوئے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کا انتظار کر رہے تھے کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اپنی کسی اہلیہ محترمہ کے گھر سے تشریف لے آئے، ہم نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ چل پڑے، راستے میں نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی جوتی ٹوٹ گئی، حضرت علی (رض) رک کر جوتی سینے لگے اور نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) آگے چل پڑے، ہم بھی چلتے رہے، ایک جگہ پہنچ کر نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کھڑے ہوگئے اور حضرت علی (رض) کا انتظار کرنے لگے، ہم بھی کھڑے ہوگئے اسی دوران نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا تم میں ایک آدمی ایسا بھی ہوگا جو قرآن کریم کی تاویل و تفسیر پر اسی طرح قتال کرے گا جیسے میں نے اس کی تنزیل پر قتال کیا ہے، یہ سن کر ہم جھانک جھانک کر دیکھنے لگے، اس وقت ہمارے درمیان حضرت ابوبکر و عمر (رض) بھی موجود تھے، لیکن نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا وہ جوتی سینے والا ہے، اس پر ہم حضرت علی (رض) کو یہ خوشخبری سنانے کے لئے گیئے تو ایسا محسوس ہوا کہ جیسے انہوں نے بھی یہ بات سن لی ہے۔
Hazrat Abusaid Khudri (RA) se marvi hai ki ek martaba hum log baithe huye Nabi (SAW) ka intezar kar rahe thay ki Nabi (SAW) apni kisi ahliya mohtarama ke ghar se tashreef le aaye, hum Nabi (SAW) ke sath chal pade, rastay mein Nabi (SAW) ki jooti toot gayi, Hazrat Ali (RA) ruk kar jooti sine lage aur Nabi (SAW) aage chal pade, hum bhi chalte rahe, ek jaga pahunch kar Nabi (SAW) kharay hogaye aur Hazrat Ali (RA) ka intezar karne lage, hum bhi kharay hogaye isi dauran Nabi (SAW) ne farmaya tum mein ek aadmi aisa bhi hoga jo Quran Kareem ki taweel o tafseer par isi tarah qital karega jaise maine is ki tanzeel par qital kiya hai, yeh sunkar hum jhank jhank kar dekhne lage, is waqt humare darmiyan Hazrat Abubakar o Umar (RA) bhi mojood thay, lekin Nabi (SAW) ne farmaya woh jooti sine wala hai, is par hum Hazrat Ali (RA) ko yeh khushkhabri sunane ke liye gaye to aisa mehsoos hua jaise unhon ne bhi yeh baat sun li hai.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا فِطْرٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي , يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ، يَقُولُ: كُنَّا جُلُوسًا نَنْتَظِرُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ: فَأَتَيْتُهُ لِأُبَشِّرَهُ، قَالَ: فَلَمْ يَرْفَعْ بِهِ رَأْسًا، كَأَنَّهُ قَدْ سَمِعَهُ.
