Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11774
A man came to Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "Please advise me." He replied, "I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) the same thing. I advise you to fear Allah, for that is the foundation of everything. Make Jihad obligatory upon yourself, for it is the monasticism of Islam. And make the remembrance of Allah and the recitation of the Quran obligatory upon yourself, for they are your spirit in the heavens and your mention on earth." It is narrated on the authority of Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were sitting and waiting for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).... then the narrator mentioned the whole hadith and in the end said that it seemed as if they had also heard this.

حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس ایک آدمی آیا اور کہنے لگا کہ مجھے کوئی وصیت فرما دیجئے، انہوں نے فرمایا کہ تم نے وہی درخواست کی جو میں نے نبی ﷺ سے کی تھی، میں تمہیں اللہ سے ڈرنے کی وصیت کرتا ہوں کہ وہ ہر چیز کی بنیاد ہے، جہاد کو اپنے اوپر لازم کرلو کہ وہ اسلام کی رہبانیت ہے اور ذکر اللہ اور تلاوت قرآن کو اپنے اوپر لازم کرلو کہ وہ آسمان تمہاری روح اور زمین تمہارا ذکر ہے۔ حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ ہم لوگ بیٹھے ہوئے نبی ﷺ کا انتظار کر رہے تھے۔۔۔۔۔۔ پھر راوی نے پوری حدیث ذکر کی اور آخر میں کہا تو ایسا محسوس ہوا کہ جیسے انہوں نے بھی یہ بات سن لی ہے۔
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke paas ek aadmi aaya aur kehne laga ke mujhe koi wasiyat farma dijiye, unhon ne farmaya ke tum ne wohi darkhwast ki jo main ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se ki thi, main tumhen Allah se darne ki wasiyat karta hun ke woh har cheez ki bunyad hai, jihad ko apne upar laazim karlo ke woh Islam ki rahbaniyat hai aur zikr Allah aur tilawat Quran ko apne upar laazim karlo ke woh aasman tumhari rooh aur zameen tumhara zikr hai. Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ke ek martaba hum log baithe hue Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka intezar kar rahe the..... phir ravi ne puri hadees zikr ki aur akhir mein kaha to aisa mehsoos hua ke jaise unhon ne bhi ye baat sun li hai.
حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ يَعْنِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ الْكَلَاعِيِّ ، وَعَقِيلِ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ السُّلَمِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَهُ، فَقَالَ: أَوْصِنِي , فَقَالَ: سَأَلْتَ عَمَّا سَأَلْتُ عَنْهُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ:" أُوصِيكَ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ، فَإِنَّهُ رَأْسُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ، وَعَلَيْكَ بِالْجِهَادِ، فَإِنَّهُ رَهْبَانِيَّةُ الْإِسْلَامِ، وَعَلَيْكَ بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ، وَتِلَاوَةِ الْقُرْآنِ، فَإِنَّهُ رَوْحُكَ فِي السَّمَاءِ، وَذِكْرُكَ فِي الْأَرْضِ".
