Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1227
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, used to pray two rak'ahs (units of prayer) after every obligatory prayer (except Fajr and Asr).

سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ (فجر اور عصر کے علاوہ) ہر فرض نماز کے بعد دو رکعت نماز پڑھتے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" لَا يُصَلِّي صَلَاةً يُصَلَّى بَعْدَهَا، إِلَّا صَلَّى بَعْدَهَا رَكْعَتَيْنِ".
