Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 14738
It is narrated by Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a monk gifted a silk robe to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wore it at that time but took it off when he came home. When he learned of the arrival of a delegation, Sayyiduna Umar requested him to wear the robe. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Silk clothes are not suitable for us in this world, they will be suitable for us in the Hereafter. However, Umar, you take it." Sayyiduna Umar said, "You dislike it and you want me to take it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "I am not giving you permission to wear it, but I am giving it to you so that you may send it towards the land of Iran and obtain wealth through it." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself sent that robe to the Negus (ruler of Abyssinia), who had given refuge to the migrant companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک راہب نے نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں ایک ریشمی جبہ ہدیہ کے طور پر بھیجا نبی ﷺ نے اس وقت تو اسے پہن لیا لیکن گھر آ کر اتار دیا پھر کسی وفد کی آمد کا علم ہوا تو سیدنا عمرنے درخواست کی کہ وہ جبہ زیب تن فرمالیں نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا کہ دنیا میں ہمارے لئے ریشمی لباس مناسب نہیں ہے یہ آخرت میں ہمارے لئے مناسب ہو گا البتہ عمر تم اسے لے لو سیدنا عمر کہنے لگے کہ آپ تو اسے ناپسند کر یں اور میں اسے لے لوں؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا کہ تمہیں اسے پہننے کا حکم نہیں دے رہا بلکہ اس لئے دے رہاہوں کہ تم اسے سر زمین ایران کی طرف بھیج دو اور اس کے ذریعے مال حاصل کر لو پھر نبی ﷺ نے خود ہی وہ جبہ شاہ نجاشی کو بھجوادیا جس نے نبی ﷺ کے مہاجر صحابہ کو پناہ دے رکھی تھی۔
Sayyidna Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek rahib ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein ek reshmi jubba hadiya ke taur par bheja Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne us waqt to use pehen liya lekin ghar aa kar utar diya phir kisi wafd ki amad ka ilm hua to Sayyidna Umar ne darkhwast ki ki woh jubba zeb tan farmalain Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya ki duniya mein humare liye reshmi libas munasib nahin hai yeh aakhirat mein humare liye munasib ho ga albatta Umar tum ise le lo Sayyidna Umar kehne lage ki aap to use napasand karen aur mein use le lun? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya ki tumhen use pehenne ka hukum nahin de raha balki is liye de raha hun ki tum use sar zameen Iran ki taraf bhej do aur uske zariye maal hasil kar lo phir Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne khud hi woh jubba Shah Najashi ko bhejwa diya jisne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke muhajir sahaba ko panah de rakhi thi.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَهْدَى إِلَيْهِ رَاهِبٌ مِنَ الشَّامِ جُبَّةً مِنْ سُنْدُسٍ، فَلَبِسَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ أَتَى الْبَيْتَ فَوَضَعَهَا، وَأُخْبِرَ بِوَفْدٍ يَأْتِيهِ، فَأَمَرَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ أَنْ يَلْبَسَ الْجُبَّةَ لِقُدُومِ الْوَفْدِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" لَا يَصْلُحُ لَنَا لِبَاسُهَا فِي الدُّنْيَا، وَيَصْلُحُ لَنَا لِبَاسُهَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ، وَلَكِنْ خُذْهَا يَا عُمَرُ"، فَقَالَ: أَتَكْرَهُهَا وَآخُذُهَا؟!، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِنِّي لَا آمُرُكَ أَنْ تَلْبَسَهَا، وَلَكِنْ تُرْسِلُ بِهَا إِلَى أَرْضِ فَارِسَ، فَتُصِيبُ بِهَا مَالًا"، فَأَبَى عُمَرُ، فَأَرْسَلَ بِهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ، وَكَانَ قَدْ أَحْسَنَ إِلَى مَنْ فَرَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
