Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 14985
Abdullah bin Ubayyid narrated that once some companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, visited Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him. He offered them dates and vinegar and said, "Eat, I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say that vinegar is the best gravy." It is the destruction of a man that his brothers come to him and he considers it degrading to present before them what he has in his house, and it is the destruction of people that they consider whatever is presented before them as insignificant.

عبداللہ بن عبید کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس نبی ﷺ کے کچھ صحابہ تشریف لائے انہوں نے اس کے سامنے روئی اور سرکہ پیش کیا اور کہا کہ کھائیے میں نے نبی ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ سرکہ بہترین سالن ہے یہ بات انسان کے لئے باعث ہلاکت ہے کہ اس کے پاس اس کے بھائی آئیں اور اس کے پاس جو کچھ گھر میں موجود ہو وہ اسے ان کے سامنے پیش کرنے میں اپنی تحقیر سمجھے اور لوگوں کے لئے بھی یہ بات باعث ہلاکت ہے کہ ان کے سامنے جو کچھ پیش کیا جائے وہ اسے حقیر سمجھے۔
Abdullah bin Ubaid kehte hain ki ek martaba Sayyidina Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke paas Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke kuch sahaba tashreef laaye unhon ne uske samne rui aur sirka pesh kiya aur kaha ki khaiye maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ye farmate huye suna hai ki sirka behtarin salan hai yeh baat insan ke liye baais halakat hai ki uske paas uske bhai aayen aur uske paas jo kuchh ghar mein maujood ho wo use unke samne pesh karne mein apni tahqir samjhe aur logon ke liye bhi yeh baat baais halakat hai ki unke samne jo kuchh pesh kiya jaye wo use haqir samjhe.
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْبَاطُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْوَصَّافِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ: دَخَلَ عَلَى جَابِرٍ نَفَرٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَدَّمَ إِلَيْهِمْ خُبْزًا وَخَلًّا، فَقَالَ: كُلُوا، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ" نِعْمَ الْإِدَامُ الْخَلُّ , إِنَّهُ هَلَاكٌ بِالرَّجُلِ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ عَلَيْهِ النَّفَرُ مِنْ إِخْوَانِهِ، فَيَحْتَقِرَ مَا فِي بَيْتِهِ أَنْ يُقَدِّمَهُ إِلَيْهِمْ , وَهَلَاكٌ بِالْقَوْمِ أَنْ يَحْتَقِرُوا مَا قُدِّمَ إِلَيْهِمْ".
